On Saturday Hampstead visited Bromley for the return League match and were defeated by two goals to one, but they are to be congratulated on giving a fine exhibition of football, and were decidedly unlucky to be defeated. During the first half they did all the pressing and upon five occasions hit the cross-bar with Bloyce, the Bromley goal-keeper, well beaten. They did everything that is required of a good team, but could not score. Five minutes from the interval Dominy, the Bromley inside-right, secured possession from a breakaway and scored to give Bromley the lead.
Soon after the interval Bromley were again somewhat lucky to go further ahead, the ball entering the net following a rebound off Mills, the Bromley centre-forward.
Bromley were now having more of the game than they had in the first half, but Hampstead held their own, and following a fine run on the right by Sherman, Miller scored from Sherman's centre to make the score 2-1.
Moore, Hampstead's outside-left, then came into a collision with an opponent and had to be assisted from the field. Hampstead tried hard for an equaliser and they looked as though they would score again when Sherman raced away and put in a fine cross shot which went just wide of an upright. McCall of the Reserves, who deputised for Moody (on holiday), held his end up well, and although defeated Hampstead showed that they are capable of giving their supporters some most interesting afternoons of football to come.
