Northern Nomads entertained a large crowd to a fine exhibition on Good Friday, at Claremont-road, where they beat Hampstead by six goals to three.

There was an abundance of vitality in the Hampstead attack, but there was yet more in that of the visitors. G.H. Smithies, the Preston North End and England amateur international, was a fine leader. This dazzling centre was a continuous source of danger. His clever positioning, fine ball control and shooting ability brought him three goals, and had his tally been even greater no one would have disputed his right to his success.

The fortunes changed in curious fashion, first one side and then the other scoring, but the Nomads definitely asserted their superiority in the last twenty minutes, when, with a stiff wind behind them, they were continuously driving at the Hampstead goal.

Hampstead scored first through S.J. Moore, and though G.H. Smithies dribbled through to equalise, Moore put his side in front again before the interval. E.H. Robertson again levelled matters by heading through, and then two beautiful goals by Smithies put the Nomads in front. With the Nomads going great guns at the time W.C. Smith and H.V. Pitt brought the visitors score up to six, while H. Shearcroft scored a third goal for Hampstead.
