Hampstead visited Sutton in the Athenian League on Saturday, and were defeated 3-0. Hampstead had to make a last minute change, Bucci being unable to play on account of his injury not having yielded to treatment in time, and AG Potter taking the left-half position.
Immediately after the kick off Butland was injured, and although he tried hard he was more or less a passenger throughout the game. One minute from the interval A Mason scored with a very fine cross shot to give Sutton the lead.
Fifteen minutes after the restart Marlow snapped up a pass from the right wing, putting Sutton further ahead. Smith making no attempt to save. Limbrey then put in a very fine shot for Hampstead, but Bedford made a great save, tipping the ball over the bar for a corner. Sutton went away again, and following a melee in front of the Hampstead goal Mason completed the scoring against Hampstead.
Sherman who returned to the outside-right position for Hampstead did very well, as also did Gardner, who cross over to the left-wing. Limbrey was always a trier, but Saggers was weak at inside-right.
