Saturday's match [with Enfield] at Claremont Road was not particularly interesting. Both teams missed several chances to score.
For the first few minutes Enfield attacked strongly, and with Bucci sustaining an injury to his knee the outlook for Hampstead was far from bright. He soon returned, however. A melee in the goalmouth gave Spalton a chance to open the scoring for his side. He added the second goal a few minutes later from a fine corner by Porrett.
The second half opened with Hampstead pressing, but they missed a good many chances and finally had to fall on the defensive as Enfield attacked strongly. The home team, however, broke away towards the end of the game and Evans scored a fine goal.
The Hampstead team on the whole played a good game, although two first-team matches in two days seemed to be a little too much for Porrett and Seeney, the recruits from the reserve team. Once again the defence emerged with a good deal of credit.
