At Clarence Park, St. Albans, on Saturday, in the return Herts and Middlesex League game, St. Albans City gave Golders Green an object lesson - not in how to play football, for the visitors were the more scientific side - but in how to shoot and score goals.
The score of 6-1 in no way represents the run of the game, however. Golders Green had many chances, but they kept the ball too close, once again, and would not shoot. St. Albans, on the other hand, booted the ball hard and shot with crashing force whenever they got an opportunity.
The home side made one or two changes from the previous week, and the introduction of Braithwaite at inside-right gave their forward line real punch. Except for the return of Bucci, which released Munday for the left-half position, Golders Green were unchanged.
This Saturday Golders Green will entertain Wood Green in the Herts and Middlesex League - kick off 3.30.
