On Saturday we became the first Isthmian League side to break through the fifty goal barrier when we completed an excellent 4-1 league victory at Leytonstone.
It was fitting that skipper Jimmy Quail should notch the fiftieth with a splendid free kick, which brushed a member of Leytonstone's defensive wall before sailing past the unsighted Derek Griffin.
Jimmy, right back in peak form, is serving up some dazzling football, which has spread to the rest of the team.
The other three goals were scored by hat-trick man Peter Slade, who, because of fog and traffic jams, arrived only some 20 minutes before kick-off. It is good to see Peter back on the goal-standard.
"Thought I should have had a couple more," he ventured afterwards when he was being congratulated on his efforts.
Roy Walker had another great game, his passing being of the highest order, and back markers Roy Sleap and David Hogwood again shared in defensive honours.
An England selector watched us again and we hope that he saw something to whet his appetite.
