Wealdstone's international centre-half Johnny Ashworth broke a toe in the game against us last week. But one would never have thought so the way he stuck to his task of marking centre-forward David Hyde. He went to hospital after the game but hopes to be fit for today's replay.
The match was mostly dominated by the defences, though we did manage to take a first half lead when Laurie Churchill smashed home a good pass from Gerry O'Rourke.
Olympic man Hugh Lindsay created the opening for Wealdstone to equalise with a well taken goal by their outside-left, Welsh trialist Viv Evans.
Just before the end, O'Rourke almost snatched victory with a shot that slipped under the body of goalkeeper Roger Durdle. But the former Fulham apprentice-professional just managed to recover and prevent the ball from crossing the line. On the whole it was a fair result.
