This was a really entertaining game in which we gained ample revenge for our first defeat of the season.
Starting in bewildering style the Casuals forward line interchanged with telling effect mainly through the brilliance of their 18 year old inside left Peter Phillips.
Phillips gave his side the lead after only five minutes cutting in from the right wing to brilliantly lob the ball over advancing John Swannell.
Though having less of the game it was our turn to score, David Hyde giving us the equaliser. Then Hendon made the move that was the turning point of the game, Roy Sleap decided to concentrate on stopping Phillips. This is a role Roy delights in, the Casuals efforts being reduced to long range attempts.
We began to come more into the game, John Evans giving good use of the ball to his forwards. From one of these passes Jimmy Quail swung the ball out to David Hyde on the right wing. David cleverly judged his lob to land over Chris Joy's head enabling Roy Drake to run on and put us in the lead.
In the second half we applied more pressure and should have sewn the game up after 15 minutes when Jimmy Quail and Danny Lakey both missed golden opportunities.
In the 20th minute we scored the all important goal, Jimmy making no mistake running on to a Roy Drake cross to smartly head past Graham Roope, the Oxford Blue and Surrey cricketer.
A very entertaining game deservedly won.
