We were forced to make give changes for the game against Walthamstow Avenue, with John Daniel in goal, Ray Poole at left-back, Chris Patmore at centre-half, Brian Woozley at inside-left and Mickey Clay at centre-forward.

What a terrific fight our boys put up and how unfortunate they were to lose!

The ball did not run well, and after having a goal scored against us through a defensive error early in the second half our boys played like demons and were particularly unlucky not to score when Ray Poole hit the upright and Danny Lakey hit the underside of the crossbar. Both were tremendous shots.

This was our first defeat for over 3 months and it was in this game that Chris Patmore was injured. Fred Hilling substituted in the second half and did not left the side down.
