Hendon's hopes of silverware went west in the London Senior Cup final as Tooting & Mitcham United retained their hold on the trophy with a 3-2 win at Imber Court.
Both sides fielded first choice sides, and it was the Terrors who took the lead when Jon Henry-Hayden fired home a rebound in the 11th minute.
In the 22nd minute Danny Dyer equalised for the Greens with a fine effort from the edge of the area, but three minutes later Henry-Hayden restored the lead with a fierce cross shot.
The third goal for Tooting came early in the second half when Paul Vines headed home, but in true Hendon style, the Greens fought back.
There was controversy in the 83rd minute when Brian Haule was clearly fouled in the penalty area by Tooting's former Hendon keeper Dave King. Everyone in the ground, including King, expected the referee to show a red card to the big stopper, but inexplicably he only cautioned him. Haule stepped up and converted the spot kick.
In a frantic finish, Vines was inches away with a header, whilst at the other end Rakatahr Hudson hit the woodwork with King beaten.
