Wednesday 31 October - Under 23s beat Hayes & Yeading

The under 23s won again tonight, this time overcoming a tough test from Hayes & Yeading United with a 2-1 win.

The visitors took the lead in the 5th minute, and it took a while for the young Greens to get into the game, but they did so in the 32nd minute when Riccardo Alexander-Greenaway found the back of the net. Three minutes later Khalil Francis-Owuaha put the Greens ahead, a lead they were to hold on to for the rest of the game.

Our best wishes go to the Hayes & Yeading United number 7, who had given them the lead early on, who picked up what appeared to be a nasty knee injury midway through the second half. He was stretchered off and taken straight to hospital after the game. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Monday 29 October - Ashford Place unites with Hendon FC on "Christmas Connections"

As the nights draw in and get longer, when Christmas displays seem to arrive earlier and earlier, it may come as no surprise to learn from a recent YouGov poll that 74% of UK citizens admit to feeling chronically stressed and overwhelmed during the festive season. The Christmas holiday fills many with dread but especially for anyone struggling with loneliness and/or poor mental health, this holiday is anything but jolly.

Cricklewood based charity, Ashford Place, has joined forces with Hendon Football Club in launching an important new community based initiative: Christmas Connections, aimed at connecting the most vulnerable back into their community over the festive period.

Christmas connections is a new, cross-community scheme designed to encourage a network of support for those who, regardless of faith or ethnic background, find coping over the Christmas Season a severe challenge and who are, indeed, at serious risk.

Emphasising a spirit of togetherness, from which many people with mental illness and social isolation can feel so alienated and excluded, Christmas Connections invites and inspires individuals, communities and businesses to draw on a variety of resources to pledge vital support - ranging from the simple act of sending someone a card, to organising group Christmas dinners, to making a phone call to someone you know who will be alone. At its most basic level, it's an initiative that provides an opportunity for the disconnected among us to reconnect.

As Ashford Place CEO, Danny Maher, explains,"Christmas Connections has the potential to help lots of people have a good Christmas this year. Put someone new on your Christmas list and help them enjoy the festive season"

Simon Lawrence (Hendon FC Chairman) said "Hendon Football Club and Silver Jubilee Park are delighted to partner with Ashford Place by pledging our support for Christmas Connections. With everyone at Silver Jubilee Park committed to helping improve mental health and combat loneliness within the local community we are fully aware how difficult the festive season can be for people of all faiths, this initiative by Ashford Place is one that we are delighted to be involved with."

We will have details of how you can pledge support within the next week or so. Please keep checking for updates on the website and through social media.

Saturday 27 October - FA Trophy progression secured

The first team secured progression in the FA Trophy this afternoon with a 2-1 win over Staines Town at SJP.

The first half was disappointing for the Greens, as they went a goal behind after 9 minutes, and the visitors had chances to extend their lead. The woodwork was hit at the other end when Lee Chappell's free kick hit the crossbar.

The second half saw a much improved performance with Connor Calcutt scoring his first goal for the club after a goalmouth scramble in the 55th minute, before Cole Brown scored the goal of the game seven minutes later.

The Greens had chances to further extend the lead during the remainder of the game, and limited Staines to half chances to ensure progression to the second qualifying round was secured.

The draw for the next round will be made on Monday, and games will be played on Saturday 10th November.

Saturday 20 October - Greens win to go second

The first team made it five league wins on the bounce as they saw off the challenge of Wimborne Town with a 3-2 victory on another warm afternoon. The Greens lie four points behind leaders Weymouth but have two games in hand.

Romario Jonas was first on the scoresheet in the fourth minute, although he didn't know much about it as a cross hit him while he was on the ground and the ball flew into the net. Within seven minutes the visitors were back on equal terms as Toby Holmes found the back of the net.

In the 35th minute Ricardo German got the decisive touch to restore the lead, and just before half-time Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick scored the goal of the game with a 20 yard drive that simply flew into the net.

The only goal of the second half came on the hour mark when Franklyn Clarke fired home a rebound after his penalty had been saved by Danny Boness, although both keepers were called into action.

The Greens were able to hold on for the three points, but Wimborne can travel home knowing that they had played well, and were perhaps a bit unfortunate not to get a draw.

Next up for the Greens is the home FA Trophy tie against Staines Town next Saturday - kick off 3:00pm at SJP.

Tuesday 16 October - Greens knocked out of league cup

The first team were knocked out of the CSS League Challenge Cup this evening, going down to a 1-0 defeat to Metropolitan Police.

Both sides made numerous changes to their line ups, and whilst the Greens put in a good performance, they were left rueing their inability to take their chances. In a five minute period early in the second half Mathias Bakare hit the post, Gianni Crichlow hit the bar with Tyriq Hunte firing the rebound at the keeper, and Cole Brown had a goal disallowed for offside. Within 10 minutes the home side had found the net with a shot from John Gilbert finding the back of the net for the only goal of the game.

Despite defeat, there were positives to take from the game. Young keeper Daniel Purdue made two or three excellent saves, and appeared to be unsighted for the goal, whilst debutants Mathias Bakare, Joao Lima and Sean Bonnett-Johnson all acquitted themselves well, together with the three substitutes from the under 23s, Ben Gray, Mickey White and William Murphy.

Tuesday 16 October - No FootballWebPages updates tonight

Unfortunately, due to some technical issues with FootballWebPages, we will be unable to bring the usual live updates service tonight. We apologise for this, and without going into the details of what has happened, we are in contact with the team at FootballWebPages about this to hopefully ensure we don't have any future occurrences.

We will endeavour to provide some updates through the official club twitter feed @HendonFC - which can be found by clicking here, or by clicking the twitter logo at the top right of this page (the one that looks like a bird), and of course there will be a full update on the website late tonight.

Obviously, should the issue be fixed ahead of kick-off this evening we will of course endeavour to run the updates as normal.

Normal live updates service should resume on Saturday afternoon with our home league game against Wimborne Town.

Hendon v Wimborne Town tickets

Hendon v Staines Town FA Trophy tickets

We are experimenting with selling tickets online this season to see how we can make use of the function going forward. It is also a way of reducing the pressure on our turnstile operators as they have less cash to handle.

Of course, paying cash on the turnstile is still availble, but to answer a couple of queries we've had this season, we are not able to take card payments at the ground. If you want to pay by card, then online is currently the only way to do so.

All you need to do is either print out your e-ticket, or if you have a smartphone, just showing it at the turnstile will suffice. Please ensure the ticket number is visible so that you can be ticked off the list.

Should the game be postponed for any reason, your payment will automatically be refunded. This can take up to a week to be processed.

If you have any questions about the online ticketing, please speak to Steve Rogers on a matchday, or email the website on

The FA Trophy first qualifying round draw has just been made, and we have been drawn against familiar opposition - as has been the case so often in recent years.

We will be at home to Staines Town on Saturday 27th October, kicking off at 3:00pm. Staines joined us in the transfer across from the Isthmian League to the Southern League in the summer, but have found life much tougher, with just two wins from their ten games so far, most recently losing 6-2 to Merthyr Town at the weekend.

Saturday 13 October - Victory moves Greens up to second

The first team moved up to second place in the table after coming back from behind twice to win 3-2 at Hartley Wintney this afternoon.

The Greens had a number of half chances in the first ten minutes as they camped in the home half, but were hit on the break and Mike Campbell was able to find the back of the net. The equaliser came in the 25th minute when Stephane Ngamvoulou found himself in space to score.

Ten minutes into the second half, Jack Ball restored the lead for the home side, but in the 62nd minute the referee played a superb advantage after Marvin Morgan was fouled outside the box. However, the man in black spotted that Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick had broken clear with the ball and he went on to equalise for a second time.

The winner came in the 71st minute when Laste Dombaxe's 20 yard shot found its way past Adam Desbois for what turned out to be the winner.

Next up for the Greens is a trip to Metropolitan Police on Tuesday evening in the league cup. Kick off is at 7:45pm.

Thursday 11 October - World Mental Health Day at SJP report

World Mental Health Day was recognised at Silver Jubilee Park on Wednesday with a series of events, and David Ballheimer was there to report on what took place.

The north-west London stadium, home of Hendon FC and Edgware Town FC, is run by Robert Morris and his hard-working team, and he was the host of the World Mental Health Day event, with more than 70 interested and involved parties attending.

When Mr Morris took over the stadium, the former home of Kingsbury Town FC, he was determined to make it the hub of the local community. He rebuilt the ground and, most importantly, arranged for a 3G (all-weather) pitch to be laid.

In opening World Mental Health Day at Silver Jubilee Park, Mr Morris said, "Our aim for SJP is to be a community club and to be the best in the country.

"Today is about those working in mental health and how we can help."

Help was the theme of the morning with many local organisations making presentations, which included Anna Ware from Brent Wandsworth Westminster MIND, who held Poetry in MIND and Music in MIND sessions. MIND BWW said, "We won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect."

Hendon, represented by club director David Bedford, OBE, have had their issues with Mental Health, most notably the death of former club hero Dermot Drummy during last season.

As a result, in April, the Greens instituted a policy of offering free admission to League fixtures to anyone suffering from loneliness or mental health problems – a move, which received national media attention last month. He noted, "The community project gets better feedback than any football result."

One of those young people, Omar, has become a focal point of this policy and he was on hand to officially open the stadium's community garden, situated pitchside, just by the players' tunnel. Last year, Omar came to the ground and was made so welcome, as a gesture of thanks, he made a donation to the stadium management.

Mr Morris really didn't want to accept the money, so it was decided to do something in his name and it was decided to set up the community garden.

Another highlight of the day was the unveiling of a mural by local artist The Fandangoe Kid. Put together with the assistance of pupils from Hendon School, the 25ft long piece of art contains thoughts on mental health, seeking treatment, giving advice and the power of positivity in thought and deed.

Gabby Horeka, representing Dementia Cafes Brent, spoke of the success of this initiative, saying, "Last year we had two Dementia Cafes; there are now 12 Dementia Cafes in Brent.

"Dementia Cafws are where people can meet up with others who will often be in a similar situation to yourself, either suffering from a form of dementia or being the carer of someone suffering from the condition"

HRH, Prince William, President of The Football Association, and HRH, Prince Harry, who went public with their own situation following the death of their mother, provided a video of the launch of their mental health charity, Heads Together.

Community Action of Dementia – Brent (CAD–Brent) repeated the mission statement to support the borough's residents and businesses to become a dementia-friendly borough which enables an improved wellbeing for people living with dementia.

One such building operated by CAD–Brent is Ashford Place in Cricklewood, where there is also a large community garden. Their representative Danny Maher said, "Our aim is to change the perception of dementia."

The Middlesex County Football Association was also in attendance to present an their Community Project of the Year award to the Mental Health League, a football organisation set up at Silver Jubilee Park. Run by Richard Hay, he was joined by Mohamed Muse and Omar, two of those who have benefited from this initiative.

Muse or Mussi, as he is known, wanted to deflect the praise, but admitted that he had been helped enormously by the project. And Bryony Gates, a Brent Occupational Therapist, talked of the importance of the weekly sessions in helping the treatment of those who had physical and mental issues.

Mr Hay received the award from Colin Williams and Kelly Hancock of the Middlesex County FA and said, "Thanks for the support. The aim for Mental Health Football is to break down the stigma of mental health."

Sunday 07 October - Chippenham FA Cup tie details

We now travel to Chippenham Town on Wednesday evening in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup. Kick off at Hardenhuish Park will be at 7:45pm, and if scores are level after 90 minutes there will be a replay at SJP on Tuesday 16th October - kick off at 7:30pm.

Admission on Wednesday will be Chippenham's usual matchday prices of £12 for adults, £7 for concessions and £3 for under 18s.

The draw for the fourth qualifying round will be made tomorrow lunchtime, broadcast live on TalkSport 2 at 12pm. It will be hosted by Ray Stubbs, and the balls will be drawn by former Chelsea, Swindon Town and Luton Town striker Sam Parkin, and non-league expert Tony Incenzo.

We don't yet have any details of whether coach travel will be available - as soon as we find out we will get the news out through the usual channels.

If you plan to travel by train on Wednesday - direct trains run from London Paddington to Chippenham every 30 minutes, departing on the hour and the half hour, taking between 75 and 80 minutes. The last one that gives you a sensible chance of getting to the ground is the 17:30 departure, although it's not impossible on the 18:00 departure. You will probably need to get a taxi from the station to the ground - its a walk of about 1.5 miles.

Trains back to London from Chippenham depart at 22:17 and 23:01, and take about 90 minutes.

Sunday 07 October - First team secure FA Cup progression

The first team won their second FA Cup replay of the season this afternoon with a professional performance as they won 4-0 at Lancing. A trip to Chippenham Town on Wednesday evening now awaits.

In the shadow of the South Downs, the Greens took the lead in the 13th minute when Stephane Ngamvoulou fired the ball into the roof of the net. As on Tuesday evening, Lancing defended in numbers, but the lead was doubled in the 31st minute when a penalty was awarded for handball, and Ricardo German stepped up to score his 13th goal of the season.

Gianni Crichlow was introduced early in the second half at the expense of Marvin Morgan, who had picked up a knock, and he made an immediate impact, scoring within a minute of entering the fray. The final goal came in the 72nd minute when Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick found the back of the net with his fourth goal in four games. Mention must be made of Cole Brown, who on another day would surely have scored a hat-trick but found the home keeper Tyler D'Cruz in excellent form as he made a string of good saves.

Most importantly, progession to the third qualifying round was secured, and another £9,000 in prize money has been won as a result.

Tuesday 02 October - First team face FA Cup replay

The first team are facing an FA Cup replay in Sussex after they drew 1-1 with Lancing this evening in the second qualifying round. Ultimately it was a case of the Greens not taking their chances, although full credit must go to Lancing who defended very well in numbers, and their keeper, Tyler D'Cruz, made three excellent saves during the game.

Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick put the Greens ahead with 24 minutes on the clock with a fine close range finish from a tight angle. The equaliser came with twelve minutes to go when Lancing broke away and Jack Langford was able to slide the ball past Danny Boness. As the game moved into stoppage time Boness kept the Greens in the competition with a fine save.

We hope to be able to confirm details of the replay tomorrow, but it is currently expected to take place on Sunday. As a consequence our home league game against Staines Town is postponed.

Monday 01 October - Another fixture update

We have been informed that our league cup tie at Metropolitan Police has been moved back to Tuesday 16th October again. As a consequence our league game at Kings Langley has been postponed and we are awaiting a new date.

The change is because the London Senior Cup is the main county cup for Metropolitan Police as they are affiliated to the London FA and so the county cup takes priority over league and league cup fixtures.

We are aware that the recent constant changing of the fixtures has been causing confusion. Please be assured that the fixture page on the website will always carry the up to date schedule (other than in the 2 or 3 hours immediately following a game).
