Tuesday 28 October - Under 21s notch up a win

Only one of our youth teams won their game last weekend, and that was the under 21s who put in a superb performance to beat Wilberforce Wanderers 4-1. On target were Alan Bolger, Darren Turner, Michael Roche and Takku Matsuyama.

The three teams in action on Sunday all lost, and by far the most unhappy manager was John Creith whose under 16 side failed to do the basics properly and lost 4-2 at Greenford Celtic. Kamal McEwan and Jurrel Thomas were on target. Under 15 manager Paul McGreal was delighted with his teams performance despite a heavy 10-1 defeat to Wealdstone - Sharif Malik scoring his first goal for the club, whilst under 13 manager Leo Gerald saw his charges lose 13-1 to St Josephs B, Ademola Alese finding the back of the net.

Tuesday 28 October - Supporters suffer heavy defeat

Prior to Saturday's first team win at Bromley, the supporters team had a tough morning against Hayes Lane Ultras, the Bromley supporters side. With only 10 men turning up, a handful letting the side down by letting the manager know they couldn't come, two Bromley players volunteered to switch sides. The Greens conceded early on, with two more goals following in the first half. The Greens' job was made tougher when Steve Rogers left the game after 30 minutes with a groin strain, and at half-time Jake Osborn required treatment on an ankle injury.

The second half continued in much the same vein, with Bromley scoring 5 more goals. Jake Osborn had to leave the field with 20 minutes to go as his ankle was too painful, leaving Hendon with ten men, and with two or three other Hendon players picking up knocks it was a relief when the final whistle went. Men of the match were Phil Rogers, who worked tirelessly throughout the game, covering most of the pitch, and Liam Coogan-Jobes who was excellent in defence.

Plenty of lessons were learnt on the day, and Eddie Edwards is keen to ensure that his charges bounce back when they next take the field.

Team : Ritvars, Steve Rogers, Jake Osborn, Paul McGreal, Charlie Osborn, Liam Coogan-Jobes, Phil Rogers, David Edwards, Ashley Lawrence, Nick McMullen plus Richard & Chris on loan from Bromley.

Monday 27 October - Raki leaves as Will signs

It is with some disappointment that Gary McCann had to confirm over the weekend that Rakatahr Hudson is currently unable to commit to the club. Raki is currently studying a very intensive course at University and he feels that with the time he needs to devote to that and his personal life, he is unable to make the commitment required to the club. Gary would like to thank Raki for all his efforts over the past two years since he joined the club, during which time he made 97 appearances, scoring 7 goals. Gary, and everyone else at the club wish Raki for the future, particularly with his studies.

Coming the other way is Will Viner, who made a big mark in his debut on Saturday, saving two penalties and helping the Greens through into the last eight of the London Senior Cup. The eagle eyed will have seen that Will has been around the club and training for some time with us, often taking part in pre-match warm ups with the other goalkeepers. Will may also be a familiar face to some as he played in our youth system for some years, starting at Under 13s level, before eventually featuring in Barnet's academy. Will also appeared against the Dons a couple of years ago in a friendly at Carshalton before moving to APEP Pitsilia in Cyprus.

Saturday 25 October - Debutant's penalty saves see Dons through

Hendon won an exciting London Senior Cup tie this afternoon, beating Bromley 6-5 on penalties after 120 minutes of football failed to separate the teams. Bromley looked by far the stronger side early on and made the most of this, going 1-0 up in the 19th minute through Fazackerley. Shortly afterwards, the same striker was brought down by Frank Wilson as he looked to capitalise on a rebound, but debutant Will Viner in goal made a good stop down to his left to keep the resulting penalty out. Whilst the Greens' on top for large periods of the second half, it was Bromley that scored, Ryan Hall seeming to put the game beyond doubt in the 76th minute.

Hendon hadn't read the script. Just four minutes after being brought on and with only five minute left, James Bent pulled one back for the away side, while Harry Hunt fired into the bottom left corner into stoppage time to force the tie into extra time. Despite chances at either end throughout the extra 30 minutes, neither side could break the deadlock with penalties looming. The first five spot kicks saw the teams score four-a-piece, both keepers making a good save for the third. The remaining kicks saw each side score one, before the next three efforts failed to hit the net. Marc Leach stepped up for Hendon's eighth shot and sent both the keeper the wrong way and Hendon into the 4th round of the competition.

Saturday 25 October - Horsham draw means postponement

Horsham today earnt a midweek replay at Stevenage Borough in the 4th Qualifying Round of the FA Cup, by all accounts thoroughly deserving their 2-2 draw and leading for much of the game. As the replay will take place this week, Horsham looking to join three fellow Ryman Premier teams in the first round, our Home game on the 28th at Harrow Borough has had to be postponed to a later date.

While a number have already been taken up, there are a number of games still available throughout the rest of the season. Sponsors recieve free entry and programme and will recieve credit in both the programme for that match as well as on Greensnet. More information can be found on the sponsorship page. Meanwhile, for those looking to sponsor a player, the returning Lee O'Leary is still available along with Glenn Garner and Michael Roche, both recently promoted from our Under 21 squad. Again, information can be found on the sponsorship page.

Just 24 hours remain for anyone wishing to bid to sponsor Bontcho Guentchev. This could be your only chance to sponsor a world cup semi-finalist so cheaply, so don't let it go!

Tuesday 21 October - Youth team round up

It has been very much a case of mixed fortunes for the youth teams over the past three weeks. The under 21s have played just once, winning 3-0 against FC Baresi in a league game. However, since then FC Baresi have withdrawn from the league and their record has been removed from the league table! There is some good news though as FC Baresi were our opponents in the league cup, and we have thus received a bye into the third round.

The under 18s drew 1-1 against leaders Parkfield in the league with Hamish Birrell on target, before losing last weekend to Brook House in the County Cup, Rory Lincoln and Leon Benjamin scoring the goals. The under 16s progressed in the league cup, beating Headstone Manor 3-2, Ben Gibson, Kamal McEwan and Tyrone Smith finding the back of the net. They then beat St Andrews by the same scoreline in the league, McEwan scoring a brace and Damilola Thomas scoring the third, but last weekend they lost on penalties in the County Cup against Hillingdon Borough following a 1-1 draw. Jurrell Thomas was the man who got the goal.

It's been tough going for the under 15s and under 13s. The under 15s were soundly beaten 13-0 by Wealdstone in the league cup, before a much improved performance against Headstone Manor B despite losing 5-0. They were then also knocked out of their County Cup by Whetstone Wanderers, going down 9-0. The under 13s have played just once in the past three weeks, losing 12-2 to Acton Ealing Whistlers in the league cup. Aaron Kwaceng and Ademola Alese were on target for the Greens.

Monday 20 October - And it's back to Wembley

The date and venue for the FA Trophy tie with Sutton have now been fixed. Due to the aforementioned unavailability of grounds in North-West London, on Saturday 1st November, we have managed to secure agreement to play on Sunday 2nd November at Vale Farm. Kick off will be at the usual weekend time of 3pm.

Monday 20 October - Dons to face Sutton

The FA Trophy draw this lunchtime saw Hendon rewarded for their win at the weekend with a home tie against Sutton United. The game is due to take place on the weekend of the 1st/2nd November at a venue yet to be announced. Secretary Graham Etchell is currently working on securing a venue for a game - no mean feat as virtually all local clubs are at home that weekend! The website will be updated with details of the venue as soon as more information is available.

Saturday 18 October - Hunt strike enough at Margate

Hendon beat Margate 1-0 this afternoon in the FA Trophy, with a third minute effort from Harry Hunt being enough to see the away side through into the draw for the next round. Margate created a number of openings in a fairly even first half, Wilmot having to be alert enough to deny the home team several times, while they enjoyed the lion's share of posession in the second, but failed to create much before having a late penalty shout turned down.

The next round will take place on November 1st, with the FA making the draw as usual at midday on Monday.

Wednesday 15 October - Burgess scores as Greens rout Boro'

James Burgess scored his first goal for Hendon in his 231st appearance this evening as Hendon put in a throroughly professional performance to beat Harrow Borough 7-0 this evening. Harry Hunt opened the scoring in the 19th minute, with Haule netting in the 25th minute from the spot after Boro' keeper Gary Ross was dismissed for bringing down James Busby.

Harrow captain Wayne Walters followed in the 50th minute after two yellow cards with O'Leary scoring from the resulting free kick to put the Dons comfortably ahead. Burgess bundled home the fourth to the delight of the Greens' fans with Glenn Garner also scoring his first goal for the club five minutes later. Charlie Mapes and Hunt with his second rounded off the scoring for the evening.

Wednesday 15 October - O'Leary and Parker return as Haule stays

As supporters at Northwood tonight will have noticed, Lee O'Leary is back in the fold and played a part in the game against Harrow. Lee left us for Chertsey Town during the summer, and had been expecting to go out to the USA later this year and consequently felt that he couldn't commit to us for the season. This is no longer the case and Lee now feels that he is able to commit to the cause for the rest of the season. He is determined to prove himself to the supporters, and wants to play his part in lifting the club out of the relegation zone and ensuring we maintain our Premier Division status.

Also returning to the club will be James Parker. Last season's captain has been away in the USA for the past five months, but is due back in the country next week. He has already been in contact with the club and will be returning to training with a view to winning his place in the side back.

Manager Gary McCann has also asked us to make supporters aware that we received a 7 day approach last week from Wealdstone for Brian Haule. After long discussions, Brian remains fully committed to Hendon and feels that a move to Wealdstone would only be a sideways or backwards step. Like Lee, Brian is keen to ensure that we move up the table and away from the relegation zone.

Wednesday 15 October - Bromley game on the 25th

Following news of our fixture on the 25th being called off due to Harlow's cup commitments, we have managed to arrage a replacement fixture. Unusually, we will be facing Bromley in the London Senior Cup on a Saturday afternoon with the fixture being brought forward. The fixture at Hayes Lane will kick off at the usual Saturday time of 3.00pm.

Wednesday 15 October - Harlow game is off

As some of our more astute supporters have already noticed, Harlow's 2-0 win in a FA Cup replay over Crowbridge last night means that our away game on the 25th October against the Hawks has been postponed to a later date. Harlow will be meeting Burgess Hill Town in the 4th Qualifying round of the Cup that day instead. We hope to have a replacement fixture arranged shortly - details will be announced as soon as they're available.

Saturday 11 October - Dons' dream over at Wembley

Hendon were knocked out of the FA Cup this afternoon by a strong AFC Telford United side in the shadow of the arch of Wembley Stadium. Playing just down the road from the international side (who kicked off shortly after the end of the Greens' cup tie), the Bucks took early control of the tie taking the lead in the 11th minute through a Terry Fearns header. Hendon rallied well, and kept the Conference North side at bay for much of the half, but Lee Moore took advantage when the Dons were overcommitted just before the half-time break to put Telford 2-0 ahead.

An improved second half saw Hendon create a number of chances, with Ryan Young having to save well on a couple of occasions, but it took an injury time penalty for the home side to get their deserved consolation, Haule sliding the ball under Young's dive. Telford go into the hat for the 4th qualifying round draw on Monday, while the Greens are left to reflect with a "home" tie against Harrow Borough on Wednesday night at Northwood FC.

Thursday 09 October - Telford venue is still Vale Farm

It has been brought to the club's attention this afternoon that the Willesden & Brent Chronicle have advertised this Saturday's game with Telford as taking place at Harrow Borough's Earlsmead. We would like to confirm that this is not the case and the game will be taking place at Vale Farm as previously advertised on Greensnet.

Monday 06 October - Harrow venue moved

The venue for the Geens' game against Harrow Borough on the 15th has been changed from that previously advertised. Hendon will now host Boro' at Northwood FC's Chestnut Avenue, kick off remaining at 7.45pm. The club would like to thank Northwood for their assistance in hosting this fixture.

Saturday 04 October - Don's performance not quite enough

Hendon went down narrowly by a single goal to nil at Tooting & Mitcham United today, despite a spirited performance by the away team. Hendon started brightly, although went down to an early goal from Antonio with Tooting looking comfortable on a quick break from midfield. Glenn Garner and Dave Diedhiou had the best of the Greens' chances in the first half with Diedhiou's shot in particular causing some controversy - the ball being cleared away while rolling across the line with fans of both sides unsure whether it had crossed or not. Hendon continued brightly into the second half, and forced a couple of smart saves from King, although never really tested their former 'keeper, with the majority of on-target strikes being close enough to comfortably save.

Normal matchday admission prices will apply.

Thursday 02 October - Youth team round up

It was a disappointing weekend for our youth teams as none of the four sides in action managed to register a win. The under 18s drew 2-2 with Pitshanger B, Anthony Woodbridge scoring both goals and the under 16s also drew 2-2 against Park View Rangers, Damilola Thomas scoring twice. The under 15s had a heavy 13-1 defeat to Parkfield, whilst the under 13s lost 6-1 to Forest United. The under 21s game at FC Team was postponed. Full reports and updated tables can be found on the relevant team pages as normal.

Wednesday 01 October - Greens through against Hamlet

Hendon progressed to the third qualifying round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 win over Dulwich Hamlet this evening. The Greens took the lead in the 8th minute through Dave Diedhiou before Harry Hunt doubled the lead in the 21st minute. Dulwich pulled a goal back on the hour mark, but were unable to find an equaliser and so the Greens progressed to face AFC Telford United.
