Saturday 28 September - Greens beaten by Dolphins

Hendon fell to a second consecutive home league defeat against early pace-setters Poole Town this afternoon at Silver Jubilee Park.

The visitors opened the scoring in the first half when Oliver Dennett reacted fastest to net a rebound from a shot that came back off the woodwork and then second half goals from Marvin Brooks and Jez Bedford gave the Dolphins an unassailable lead.

Francis Amartey reduced the arrears with 13 minutes remaining before Lee Chappell was dismissed late on for a second yellow card as Poole held on for a win which leaves Hendon third from bottom.

Saturday 28 September - International in, Marwa leaves

Ahead of this afternoon's clash with Poole Town there have been a couple more tweaks to the squad.

Joining the club is former QPR junior Kraig Noel-McLeod. Kraig has represented Grenada at Under-20 level and has 1 full cap to his name. Last season he spent time on loan at Basingstoke Town.

Meanwhile leaving the club by mutual consent is Ram Marwa. Marwa signed in the summer having spent a few years abroad and went on to make four appearances.

We'd like to welcome Kraig to SJP and wish him well for his stay with us whilst Ram leaves with our thanks for his efforts this season and wishing him all the best for the future.

We wish Sergio a warm welcome back and he will be available for tomorrow's visit of Poole Town.

Saturday 21 September - Calcutt Completes Comeback

Hendon managed to overcome a soporific first-half to beat Deeping Rangers 3-2 this afternoon to book their place in the 3rd qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Jordan Macleod gave the visitors the lead with a far post header from a right-wing cross before Dan Jarvis doubled the lead with a beautifully measured finish from the edge of the box to give Deeping a thoroughly deserved 2-goal half-time advantage.

The Greens came out of the blocks hard in the second half and got a goal back early on through an own goal. Kameron English equalised from Connor Calcutt's low cross before Calcutt completed the turnaround with 20 minutes remaining.

There were still plenty of openings at either end with Chris Grace required to make a couple of important saves and two efforts at the death were smuggled off the line as Deeping sensed a replay to seal a place in the next round.

Saturday 14 September - Greens shot down by Magpies

Hendon once again were made to pay for a profligate first half by Dorchester Town at SJP this afternoon.

Chris Grace saved an early Charlie Davis penalty before Matty Harriott stroked home an effort from the edge of the box to give the Greens the advantage.

Both sides had excellent chances to increase the score but Shane Murphy made a number of good saves from Ryan Hope and Connor Calcutt, whilst Grace made a couple of excellent saves to keep the Greens ahead.

After the break, only Grace kept the Greens from a hiding as Jack Hoey helped himself to an excellent second half hattick whilst Grace made three further excellent saves to keep the Greens alive.

Friday 13 September - Look ahead to Dorchester

Tomorrow we resume our Southern League campaign after a fortnight's hiatus with the visit of Dorchester Town to Silver Jubilee Park.

Like ourselves, Dorchester ended up skirting rather closer to relegation than they would have liked, however the appointment in March of Callum Brooks as manager saw the Magpies hit a vein of form which not only dragged them clear of the drop zone, but finish one place above the Greens with a near identical record thanks to having a better goal difference by two goals.

The two sides have met on three previous occasions with Dorchester winning a 3rd Qualifying Round FA Cup tie in October 2014 1-0 - the game which ended Leon Smith's club record equalling scoring run - and then in the league last season, one of the best 45 minutes of the season saw us win 3-0 away from home almost a year ago before a fairly turgid goalless draw here at SJP in Aprili between the two sides.

This season, as Brooks looks to settle in a number of new faces the Magpies have found the going a little tough. One win - on opening day against winless Beaconsfield Town - and three points is all they currently have to show for their opening five league games, however they did progress through to the 2nd Qualifying Round of the FA Cup with a comfortable 2-0 win over Evesham Town on Sunday. Tom Bath, a summer signing from Tiverton Town, scored both goals to continue his prolific start to the campaign.

The Greens go into the game on the back of the penalty shoot-out win over Cockfosters on Tuesday night and should be able to welcome back one or two recent absentees. Francis Amartey, signed yesterday from Slough Town on-loan, should be involved as Jimmy Gray seeks to extend the unbeaten run into a fifth match in all competitions ahead of next week's FA Cup tie with Deeping Rangers.

Tuesday 10 September - Dickinson the penalty hero

Tyla Dickinson was the Hendon hero this evening as his three penalty saves in a shoot out saw the Greens progress to the next stage of the London Senior Cup against Cockfosters.

Cekyan Karahozlu gave the visitors an early lead after five minutes outpacing the Hendon defence and finishing coolly whilst Hendon's equaliser came five minutes after the break when a goalmouth scramble went in off a defender.

Both sides attacked with intent, the better chances falling Hendon's way, but Cockfosters fully deserved the shoot-out.

Dickinson saved the visitors' first three efforts whilst Kameron English and Howard Hall scored for the Greens. Brad Robinson, who made a number of excellent claims from crosses, then saved from Luca Valentine before Cockfosters' fourth penalty hit the post to give the Greens progression into round 2.

Monday 09 September - Home FA Cup Draw

The draw for the 2nd Qualifying Round of the FA Cup has been made and we have been drawn at home to the winner of the Deeping Rangers and AFC Sudbury replay.

It would be a first ever meeting with Deeping Rangers whilst we have met AFC Sudbury twice in league matches, winning one and losing the other, and never beaten them in three FA Cup and FA Trophy meetings.

The tie will take place on Saturday 21st September at 3pm.

Saturday 07 September - Greens edge past Little Common

A late Romario Jonas header in his first apperance of the season saw Hendon come through a tricky FA Cup tie at Little Common this afternoon.

In a fairly even contest the Greens saw the two best chances of the first half go begging before the hosts had strong shouts for a penalty waved away after the break. Jonas sealed progression for the visitors nine minutes from time heading home from a corner.

The draw for the 2nd Qualifying round will take place on Monday and the result means that our London Senior Cup tie with Cockfosters will go ahead on Tuesday as planned.

Friday 06 September - FA Cup starts tomorrow

The FA Cup begins tomorrow for the Greens with a trip to East Sussex and visit to Little Common FC.

Little Common were formed in 1966 as Albion United, based in Bexhill-on-sea, originally as two youth teams and gradually grew, adding a men's section and winning the East Sussex League in 1977/8 gaining them promotion into the Sussex County League.

In 1986 the club changed their name to Little Common Albion and rejoined the East Sussex League after finishing bottom of their division in 1995 and a further relegation saw them return to junior football for a few years.

In 1999 the club returned to the East Sussex League and gained promotion to the Sussex County League (which became the Southern Combination League) in 2005.

The club currently sit 9th in the Premier Division of the Southern Combination League (the same division as Lancing who we met last season) having taken 7 points from their opening 5 league matches.

Victories in the FA Cup over Corinthian FC and then Three Bridges have brought them to the 1st Qualifying Round although they fell at the first hurdle of the FA Vase last Saturday losing 2-1 to K Sports. They got back on track in midweek however with an impressive 5-0 win over Hailsham Town in the Peter Bentley Challenge Cup.

Little Common play their home matches currently at Eastbourne United's ground.

If a replay is required then it will take place at SJP on Tuesday night with a 7:45pm kick-off, we hope to see a strong travelling contingent of the Green Army making the journey south to cheer the boys on.
