Saturday 30 September - Second half goal blitz earns three points

Four goals in twenty second half minutes ensured that the first team continued their good start to the season with another victory, this time beating Tooting & Mitcham United 4-0. The result means that the Greens are level on points with leaders Billericay Town but behind on goal difference, although the Essex side have two games in hand.

After a goalless first half, in which the main talking point was the dismissal of Tooting's Danny Bassett for a challenge that the referee ruled was dangerous, the Greens took control of the game.

Two minutes into the second period Arthur Lee opened the scoring, and five minutes later Matt Ball doubled the lead. Zak Joseph made it 3-0 in the 62nd minute before Josh Walker completed the scoring in the 67th minute.

Next up is a trip to Enfield Town, who ran out 3-0 winners in the FA Cup this afternoon against Phoenix Sports.

Tuesday 26 September - Greens bounce back with three points

The first team bounced back from the weekend defeat with an entertaining 3-0 win over Staines Town at SJP this evening.

The visitors had the better of the opening exchanges, but as the Greens began to grow into the game they took the lead when Niko Muir scored with a fine effort from 20 yards that finished in the bottom corner of the net.

Staines probed for an equaliser in the second period, whilst Hendon were causing problems going forward, and it was the Greens who were on the scoresheet again in the 78th minute when Zak Joseph rolled the ball into the net.

The final goal came as the match moved into stoppage time, when Muir scored his second of the night after fine build up play involving a number of players.

Mention must also be made of the defensive performance, which was solid and uncompromsing in ensuring the clean sheet was kept.

Saturday 23 September - Greens let two goal lead slip

It was ultimately a day of disappointment for the first team this afternoon as they lost 3-2 at Folkestone Invicta. Yet, just four minutes into the second half, they were in control of the game after Niko Muir had scored twice in quick succession after the break to take his tally for the season to 10.

The first half was a goalless affair with both sides having chances but not having the cutting edge to find the back of the net.

After Muir had scored his quickfire brace, Invicta were awarded a penalty which was duly converted by Adam Yusuff. Both sides continued to create chances, with Josh Walker hitting the post, but it was the home side who scored next when Josh Vincent equalised in the 70th minute. As both sides searched for the winner, it was the home side who found it as Joe Taylor scored six minutes from time.

Wednesday 13 September - Gary reflects on Dulwich victory

Gary McCann was, obviously, delighted with the result at Dulwich Hamlet. He said, "Defensively from front to back, it was a display of the highest order. Our goalkeeper was magnificent and I think he is among the best in the League.

"I would have been delighted with a point, so I am ecstatic to get all three points. Our goal came from the best passage of play from the game: Ball's sublime pass, Josh’s shimmy and jink and then his shot.

"We needed to make the change at half-time because I wasn't happy with the way that we were keeping the ball. I didn't think that James could play the full 90, but I was delighted with the 45 minutes he gave me.

"I told the players at half-time, we had to stick to our game plan because the longer the game went on there was always the chance that we could nick it. We had two players on the bench who could turn a game in Walker and Ash Nathaniel-George, and Josh showed that."

The match report on the game can be found at

Tuesday 12 September - Walker scores late late debut goal

Josh Walker, who joined earlier today, became an instant hero as he scored the only goal at Dulwich Hamlet this evening with virtually the last kick of the game.

However, he wasn't the only hero as there were thirteen others as the squad put in an outstanding team performance to frustrate the home side who were unable to find a way past the Hendon backline, and particularly Tom Lovelock. The Greens keeper put in a superb performance, making a string of saves throughout the game.

The winner came in the fourth minute of stoppage time when the ball was cleared forward. Walker picked up possession and found enough space to curl the ball beyond the despairing dive of Preston Edwards to move the Greens up to second in the table.

Tuesday 12 September - Josh Walker signs

Gary McCann added former Fulham forward Josh Walker to the squad ahead of tonight's game at Dulwich Hamlet. Josh, who is 19 years old, was released by Fulham in the summer, and had a spell on loan at Wealdstone last season

This shows how important our defensive strength has been to our positive start to the league campaign, and our congratulations go to Tom on winning the award.

(The draws include games that have gone to penalties).

Saturday 09 September - Greens pick up first away win

The first team picked up their first away win of the season this afternoon thanks to a Keagan Cole goal deep in stoppage time.

Earlier, the Greens had taken an 8th minute lead through Zak Jospeh, the only goal of the first period. Jay Gasson equalised in the 66th minute, but it was the Greens young midfielder who scored the winner when he slammed home the rebound after Luke Williams had saved his penalty. The result moves the Greens into 4th place in the league ahead of Tuesday's trip to Dulwich Hamlet.

Friday 08 September - Reis Stanislaus departs

Gary McCann has announced that Reis Stanislaus has left the club, and is expected to sign for Harrow Borough.

The departure has come about after Gary and Reis agreed to disagree over where they felt his best postition was. Gary said that competition for places offensively was as high as its ever been during his time as manager, and it was felt that it was best for Reis to move on.

Tuesday 05 September - Replay ends in extra time defeat

The first team's interest in the FA Cup came to an early end tonight as they were beaten 4-2 after extra time at Wingate & Finchley.

The first half belonged to the home side, and just like Saturday, they took the lead courtesy of a Spencer McCall free-kick following a foul just outside the area. Rob Laney then made it 2-0 shortly before half-time.

The Greens showed determination to get back into the game in the second period and were rewarded in the 51st minute when Niko Muir scored. They continued to put pressure on the home side, and the equaliser came courtesy of Muir in the 87th minute to take the game into extra time.

Ahmet Rifat restored the home side's advantage five minutes into the first period of extra time, and whilst the Greens tried to find a way back into the game, the defeat was confirmed on the stroke of full time when McCall scored his second of the evening.

Saturday 02 September - Bray equaliser secures Tuesday replay

The first team face a replay at Wingate & Finchley on Tuesday evening following a 1-1 draw at SJP this afternoon.

Rian Bray was the hero for the Greens as he scored an equaliser - rising high to head home a cross from Niko Muir - in the 87th minute.

It had been a frustrating afternoon for the Greens, everything that worked on Monday against Harrow didn't work against a very well organised and strong Wingate side.

Following a goalless first half, a free kick was conceded a few yards outside the Hendon box and former Green Spencer McCall curled home an excellent free kick that gave Tom Lovelock no chance.

Despite finding it touch to get back in the game, the Greens showed real character to keep battling, and were rewarded by Bray's goal shortly before full time.

The replay takes place at Wingate's Summers Lane ground on Tuesday evening, kicking off at 7.45pm. The admission prices are £12 adults, £6 concessions.
