Saturday 29 September - It's another replay

Hendon face another replay following their 1-1 draw with AFC Hornchurch at Claremont Road this afternoon in the FA Cup. Hornchurch had the better of the first half and deservedly led at half time courtesy of a fine 22nd minute strike by Harry Elmes. Hendon's equaliser came two minutes into the second half thanks to Brian Haule. The replay will take place at AFC Hornchurch's Bridge Avenue ground on Tuesday evening, kicking off at 7.45pm. Consequently our planned home league cup tie against Boreham Wood has been postponed to a later date.

Thursday 27 September - Dyer joins the squad

The club are delighted to announce the signing of Daniel Dyer, who made his debut as a late substitute in our draw against Ramsgate on Tuesday evening. Daniel, who is a wide midfield player, was with Hayes last season where he made 55 appearances, scoring 5 goals. Prior to that he spent a number of years with Harrow Borough having started out with Tottenham Hotspur and Wembley. We welcome Daniel to the club and hope that he has a long and prosperous time with us.

Thursday 27 September - Harlow kick-off confirmation

Unfortunately, when we meet Harlow Town at Claremont Road on Saturday 13th October, the FA, with a total disregard for non-league football, have decided that England's game against Estonia will start at 3.00pm. Harlow suggested a Sunday afternoon kick-off for our game, but we declined and instead offered either Friday night or an early kick-off on Saturday. Unfortunately, and as is their right, Harlow refused these and so with the two clubs unable to agree dates and times our league game here has to remain as a 3.00pm kick-off. Of course, this all becomes irrelevant should either club progress to the next round of the FA Cup.

Tuesday 25 September - Dons and Rams draw

Hendon and Ramsgate fought out an entertaining goalless draw at Claremont Road this evening. The only thing the game lacked was a goal as both defences stood firm and resolute throughout the game. The action moved from end to end throughout the 90 minutes with both teams full of commitment. The only negative for the Greens was the dismissal of Jamie Busby for two yellow cards, both for mistimed challenges. The result keeps Hendon top of the table, two points clear of Horsham.

Monday 24 September - Youth team round-up

It was a successful weekend for our youth teams, with the under 21s leading the way with a 13-0 demolition of FC Tilburg Regents Reserves in their league cup. Hat-trick heroes were Raphael O'Selle and Simon Connaughton. The under 16s opened their campaign with a 4-2 win over Princes Park, Jordan Copeland scoring twice, the under 15s won 4-1 at Ruislip Rangers, Nestor Bokuli scoring all four goals, whilst the under 14s bounced back from their disappointing start with a 4-3 win over Wealdstone, Kazim Eiwazuli scoring twice.

Saturday 22 September - Greens win by the sea

Hendon put in a very solid performance this afternoon as they continued their good form with a 2-0 win at Margate. The Greens took the lead in the 17th minute through Rakatahr Hudson, but around the half-hour mark Margate won a penalty for handball, but Richard Wilmot was able to push Justin Skinner's penalty over the bar. Hendon's second goal came in the 87th minute when the referee ruled that Wayne O'Sullivan had been fouled in the penalty area, and O'Sullivan converted the spot kick. Skinner's and Margate's afternoon got worse a minute later when he was sent off for violent conduct.

Wednesday 19 September - Hendon progress in FA Cup

Despite going behind to two early goals, Hendon eventually overcame a hardworking Aveley side 3-2 this evening at Mill Field to progress into the second qualifying round of the FA Cup where they will face AFC Hornchurch. Aveley took the lead in the 7th minute through Tambeson Eyong before Ainsley Gasper doubled the lead in the 14th minute. The Greens came back into the game in first half stoppage time through Brian Haule. Craig Vargas headed Hendon in front in the 52nd minute before Haule wrapped up the win twenty minutes later.

Monday 17 September - It could be an Urchin rematch

The draw for the second qualifying round of the FA Cup was made this morning, and should we win our replay at Aveley on Wednesday evening, we then have another home tie, this time against AFC Hornchurch who know doubt will be looking for revenge for their defeat at Claremont Road earlier this month. The date for the tie is Saturday 29th September.

Sunday 16 September - Youth team round-up

Three of our four youth teams were in action this weekend. It was good news for the under-21s as they remain top of the table following their 3-0 win over Warren. Michael Roache, Glenn Garner and Rafael O'Selle were on target.

The under 15's lost out on penalties in the county cup. John Creith's charges lost to Enfield Town 6-5 in the shoot-out following a 3-3 draw. Damilola Thomas was on target twice, with Daniel Mateus scoring the third.

The under 14's had a disappointing start to the campaign with a 6-1 defeat at Ruislip Rangers, Kazem Mohsin scoring the consolation goal. The under 16's planned game against St Andrews was called off after their opponents pulled out of the game.

Sunday 16 September - Wedding congratulations

There have been two weddings over the past few days involving supporters at the club. A week ago, on 8th September, our regular turnstile operator, and former youth team & reserve team goalkeeper, John Rogers married Jo Staunton in Watford. The second wedding took place yesterday and saw Sarah Wood and Steve Neville marry in Golders Green. Sarah and Steve both grew up watching Hendon and Steve is a former youth team manager. Sarah, of course, is the daughter of Sandra and Tony who are both loyal and long-term servants to the Supporters Association. The club wishes both couples long and happy relationships and hope that they had memorable days to remember.

Sunday 16 September - Pre-order your programmes

With five home games played, programmes from three of them have been a complete sell-out. We have not reduced the print run from last season, it's just that our publication is currently more popular. Unfortunately, to increased the print run is not cost effective, however supporters can have any home programme reserved providing, of course, it is ordered in advance. To take advantage of this just leave your name along with payment for as many games as you like at the club shop and we will guarantee that your order is reserved and available for collection on the day of the match, or if you prefer, after the game has been played.

Saturday 15 September - Lacklustre Hendon go to replay

Hendon put in a lacklustre performance this afternoon as they entertained Aveley in the FA Cup. The final score was 1-1, and consequently the tie goes to a replay on Wednesday evening. The Greens took the lead in the 4th minute through Wayne O'Sullivan, whilst Aveley equalised in the 42nd minute courtesy of Ryan Imbert after Jay Leader had hit the woodwork.

In the 29th minute O'Sullivan converted a spot kick for his 5th goal of the season before Brian Haule scored the third two minutes later. The Greens held on well in the second half without too many alarms with what was their best performance of the season.

Saturday 01 September - Greens rue missed chances

Hendon were left rueing a number of missed chances this afternoon as they lost 3-2 at East Thurrock United. A number of chances went begging in the first 20 minutes before the hosts scored with their first clear chance when Leli Bajada headed home. Six minutes later Jamie Richards doubled the lead and in the 32nd minute Steve West scored from the penalty spot. Hendon battled in the second half and pulled a goal back in the 81st minute when Brian Haule fired home. Wayne O'Sullivan made it 3-2 in the final minute of normal time and just a minute later the comeback was almost completed when O'Sullivan had a chance but was unable to get enough power on his shot.
