Friday 31 August - U23s entertain with dominant performance

The Under 23s put in a superb performance this evening as they beat Brentford Under 19s 7-1 at SJP, with a side made up of players mostly aged just 18. It was a thoroughly dominant performance with the young Greens in control throughout.

The scoring was opened early in the first half when Mickey White found the back of the net, then shortly afterwards Michael Panford made it 2-0 before White scored his second of the night midway through the half.

The second half saw a string of goals of high quality. Just after the hour mark Matt Forkin netted, in his last game before heading off to Bournemouth University, and not long after Jaiden Bablola made it 5-0 with a cracking strike. Forkin was on target again with a superb effort to make it 6-0 before Will Murphy netted with a stunning strike of his own.

With five minutes to go Brentford got on the scoresheet, and it was another top quality goal as they scored direct from a free kick 30 yards from goal, the ball simply screaming into the top corner of the goal, giving Daniel Purdue absolutely no chance.

Over 70 people were in attendance, including first team manager Jimmy Gray, and they were royally entertained by the Greens for the full 90 minutes.

Wednesday 29 August - Under 18s start season in style

The under 18s opened their season in style this evening with a 7-0 win over Brimsdown Rovers in their first game in the Southern Counties Youth League.

Theo opened the scoring in the 8th minute, before PJ scored twice in a minute to make it 3-0 after a quarter of an hour had passed. The fourth goal came in the 26th minute when skipper Eisa netted before Brimsdown had their best period of the game but found keeper Thierry in fine form.

Jovann made it 5-0 on the hour mark, before Theo scored twice in the 80th and 84th minutes to complete his hat-trick and ensure all three points were firmly secured.

The youngsters are next in action next Tuesday, 4th September, when they travel to Hanwell Town in the FA Youth Cup.

Monday 27 August - Derby day defeat

For the second year in a row there was six goals in the August Bank Holiday derby against Harrow Borough at SJP. However, whilst the Greens scored all six last season, they were beaten 4-2 by our local rivals this afternoon.

It must be said that whilst the result was disappointing, the effort and workrate from the squad could not be faulted - it was just an afternoon where things didn't quite work out.

Harrow took the lead in the 19th minute when Anthony O'Connor saw his shot take a deflection on its way into the net, and shortly before the break Frank Keita doubled the lead, his shot squirming under Danny Boness. The Greens had their chances in the opening half but were unable to capitalise on them.

Lewis Cole made it 3-0 with another shot that took a deflection - it must be said that whilst there were deflections involved, more could have been done to prevent the shots in the first place, but Hendon refused to give up.

However, they were unable to take their chances until the 77th minute when Tyriq Hunte was fouled by Halfred Al-Droubi as he came to claim the ball, and Ricardo German stepped up to convert the spot kick.

Harrow thought they had made sure of the points a minute into stoppage time when Harry Rush scored, only to see German score his second of the afternoon and seventh of the season almost immediately from the restart. Two minutes later the final whistle blew and all three points were on their way to Earlsmead.

Next up we're back into pastures new as we travel to Swindon Supermarine - kick off is at 3:00pm.

Sunday 26 August - Football at SJP this week

There is a busy week of football at SJP coming up, with the first team, under 18s and under 23s all in action.

It begins tomorrow when the first team welcome Harrow Borough back to SJP - our first game this season against familiar opposition. Then on Wednesday evening, the under 18s open their league season with a home game against Brimsdown Rovers - kick off is at 7:30pm and there is expected to be a small admission charge.

Saturday 25 August - Greens concede late penalty but draw

The first team came away from Taunton Town with a very creditable 3-3 draw, but would be disappointed, having conceded a penalty in the sixth minute of second half stoppage time.

The main man for the Greens, certainly going forward, was Ricardo German, who netted his first hat-trick for the club, scoring in the 7th and 34th minutes to put the visitors two goals ahead. The defence were subjected to an aerial bombardment as the home side used their tall striker Matt Wright as a target, and they were rewarded when he scored shortly before half-time.

Ten minutes into the second period German restored the two goal lead, only to see Dan Sullivan pull another goal back in the 66th minute. Hendon had a penalty shout turned down when Dylan Kearney appeared to be fouled in the box with about ten minutes to go. Then, deep into stoppage time - the referee had indicated a minimum of six minutes additional time - a Hendon player was ruled to have handled the ball in the area and a penalty was awarded. Matt Wright stepped up to score the equaliser and his second of the afternoon.

However, on the balance of play, perhaps a draw was a fair result, and the Greens have at least kept their unbeaten start to the season going.

Next up is a home game against familiar opposition, as Harrow Borough visit SJP on Monday afternoon - kick off 3:00pm

Wednesday 22 August - First teamers score as U23s win

The under 23s ran out 2-0 winners over Aaron Morgan's FFB Academy at SJP this evening, with both goals coming from members of the first team squad.

It took the Greens half an hour to really get themselves into the game, but shortly after he'd seen a penalty saved, Tyriq Hunte found the back of the net as he fired the ball past the stranded keeper.

The second half largely belonged to the young Hendon squad, and their efforts were rewarded with about 15 minutes to go when Riccardo Alexander-Greenaway saw his header from a free-kick bounce just over the line before it could be cleared.

Next up for the under 23s is a home friendly against Brentford under 19s on Friday 31st August - kick off 7:30pm. Please come along and support the lads, they are worth coming to watch.

The first came in the 35th minute when Morgan set up Cole Brown to fire the ball into the net, and midway through the second half, Morgan was part of an excellent move that ended up with Laste Dombaxe scoring with a fine curling effort that gave the visiting keeper no chance.

Farnborough pulled themselves back into the game through Connor Cullen with 10 minutes to go, and the Greens were relieved when Danny Boness pulled off a fine save as the game moved into stoppage time to ensure the game was won.

Tuesday 14 August - Greens pick up win in first home game

The first team picked up their first win of the campaign in their first home game of the season, winning 3-0 against Walton Casuals, who are in their first season at Step 3.

It was the Greens that drew first blood when Luke Tingey headed home a Lee Chappell corner in the 16th minute, and nine minutes later Ricardo German doubled the lead, slotting the ball home after riding a couple of challenges in the box. Late in the first half Danny Boness saved a penalty from Kyron Farrell to ensure a two goal lead at the break.

Chappell hit the corner of the goal with a free-kick early in the second half, and shortly after the hour mark Tyriq Hunte opened his goal account with a smart finish.

Walton caused some problems in the remainder of the game, but found the Greens defence in unforgiving mood, and Boness in fine form.

The first team picked up a point in their first ever Southern League game after drawing 1-1 with Frome Town.

On a damp afternoon, in which the rain got heavier as the game went on, the first half was goalless with chances at a premium.

The opening goal came in the 69th minute when Ricardo German, one of eleven debutants - eight starters and three substitutes - lifted the ball over a crowd of players into the top corner from five yards.

Unfortunately the Greens were unable to hold on for all three points when the home side bundled the ball home as the game moved into stoppage time.

Sunday 05 August - Online tickets on sale for August games

Ticket sales are now available for purchase online for our first three games of the season. The idea is that this will hopefully speed up entry to the ground, and also reduce the amount of cash that is handled on a matchday.

As previously advised when we made the Walton Casuals tickets available, there is a booking free, but this is purely to cover the costs involved in running the online ticketing system.

In order to gain access to the ground having purchased your online ticket, you should either print off the E-ticket or show it on your phone, so that the ticket can be easily identified and ticked off on our list.

We are currently working on a dedicated ticket sales page for the website, but in the meantime you can purchase your tickets on the links below.

Walton Casuals Online Tickets

Farnborough Online Tickets

Harrow Borough Online Tickets

Of course, tickets will still be on sale in the turnstiles as normal - please note we are not able to take card payments - it is cash only on the day.

Sunday 05 August - Sponsorship opportunities available

With the start of the new season rapidly approaching, we are busy filling our various sponsorship opportunities. As you'll be aware, we go into the season with a new management team, new squad and in a new league.

In fact, the only constant is the need for us to ask if you would be able, once again, to support the club financially by sponsoring matches, match balls, programmes, HFCTV, seats in the Gary McCann stand and/or players.

James Gray has been working really hard since he was appointed to assemble the squad and the backroom staff and I'm confident that, while it may take a little while to gel, James is the right person to take us forward. As ever, though, he can only work with the budget that we make available to him and the agreed budget already incorporates an allowance for sponsorship income at a level consistent with recent seasons.

Anything that you can do to help would be very much appreciated. Prices are the same as last season and are, as follows:

Home Kit - £90 per player

Away Kit - £60 per player

Both Kits - £120 per player

Socks (under 16 only) - £5 per player

Match - £150 per match

Match Ball - £80 per match

Programme - £30 per match

HFCTV - £30 per match

Seat in Gary McCann Stand - £50 per seat

If you are interested in any of these sponsorship opportunities, further details can be found on the following links for most of the packages - and if you'd like to take any up, please email Simon Lawrence on, speak to him at the Supporters Trust AGM tomorrow or on a matchday.

Player Sponsorship

Match Sponsorship

Match Ball Sponsorship

Programme Sponsorship

The HFCTV sponsorship will see your name mentioned in the highlights, and also in the matchday programme, whilst the stand sponsorship will see your name on the relevant page on the website when you highlight the seat, and also in the matchday programme.

If you've already pledged sponsorships or donations - please don't feel obliged to spend any more than you have already.

We are very grateful for all the support you give, in whatever way you are able.

Sunday 05 August - Luke returns to SJP

Following his return in Green yesterday at Donkey Lane, we are delighted to be able to announce that Luke Tingey signed up with Jimmy Gray's squad for the forthcoming season.

Luke is a familiar face to us, having originally signed in August 2015 from Milton Keynes Dons and making 113 appearances in defence over the last three seasons. Despite only appearing in around half of last season's league fixtures, he still proved instrumental in our 3rd place finish.

At the beginning of the summer, Luke was one of the first to depart as last season's squad broke up, signing for St. Albans City along with Dave Diedhou. However, while we are disappointed for Luke that things haven't worked out for him, we are very happy to be able to welcome him back to Silver Jubilee Park so soon.

Saturday 04 August - Greens defeated in final friendly

Jimmy Gray saw his charges slip to a 2-1 defeat at Enfield Town this afternoon, although there was a surprise as Luke Tingey was in the Greens starting line-up.

Tingey, who left earlier in the summer to join St Albans City, has not yet officially returned, but as soon as there is any news, we will let you know.

The Towners were 2-0 up at half time thanks to goals from Sam Chaney and Lewis Taafe, and it was Tyriq Hunte who netted the consolation in the 89th minute.

Jimmy's focus now will be on the clubs first ever Southern League fixture at Frome Town next Saturday - if you are able to travel down, please get behind the boys. Seats are still available on the coach - don't leave it too late to book.

Saturday 04 August - Gray signs German

Prior to today's match at Enfield Town, we are pleased to be able to announce Jimmy Gray's latest signing, Ricardo 'Ricky' German. Ricardo originally signed as a professional for Chesterfield, making around a dozen appearances before spending time on loan at various non-league clubs up north.

Ricardo, a local from Harlesden, is a well regarded forward who will bolster the Greens' attacking options this season. As always we welcome him to the club.

Thursday 02 August - EasyFundraising: A Reminder

We would like to remind everyone about the existence of EasyFundraising, the virtually effortless way of raising money for Hendon Football Club. After a very quick registration process, you can then go about your everyday shopping online, with hundreds of retailers and service providers taking part in the scheme. After the registration process, participating in EasyFundraising costs you absolutely no time or money. Instead, you merely continue to shop online as normal. Also - you no longer have to remember to click through the link on the HFC homepage either: by accepting the Donation Reminder function, you will be reminded about EasyFundraising every time you directly visit a participating website.

The EasyFundraising initiative has been around for most of the last ten years, raising a relatively modest £2,400 through the participation of around 90 supporters. HFC Supporters Trust Chairman Bryan Roberts commented: ‘To be absolutely honest, I had completely forgotten about it and I dread to think how much potential income that has cost the club. Having become reacquainted with the facility, I’m genuinely impressed by the improvements in the site and also in the expanded range of retailers and services that are taking part.’

The service now encompasses an extensive range of websites including e-commerce specialists (e.g. Amazon, eBay), travel and tourism (e.g. Expedia, BA, Virgin), department stores (such as John Lewis, Debenhams), fashion stores (e.g. Next, GAP), beauty retailers (Boots, Superdrug etc.), supermarkets (e.g. Sainsbury, Morrisons), DIY retailers and electricals retailers. Please explore the site to see the wealth of other options. Roberts added that ‘by taking part, and encouraging friends, family and colleagues to do the same, this initiative could fulfil its potential and become a significant income stream for the Club.’

Our EasyFundraising site can be found on the front page, the Commercial Section of the website menu, or at

Wednesday 01 August - Ambers send a warning

Hendon lost a pre-season friendly last night, going down 3-1 to a well organised Cheshunt side. The Greens took the early initiative with a tenth minute strike from one of five starting triallists, but unfortunately the lead was short lived as within a minute a different triallist scored an own goal at the other end.

Cheshunt shortly after took the lead with a free header and despite some good build-up play from the Greens creating arguably the better chances of the game, the visitors were unable to get back on level terms. Instead, the Ambers made the game safe as a poorly defended set-piece allowed a forward a simple tap in.

A number of lessons for Hendon's squad to learn, and they'll look to put them into action on Saturday as they visit Enfield Town in their final pre-season fixture.
