Monday 28 August - Disappointing start continues

Hendon's disappointing start to the season continued this afternoon as they lost 2-1 at home to Leyton. Leyton took the lead in the 15th minute through Leli Bejada, and chances for the Greens were at a premium once again. Late in the second half Dean Thomas spurned a good chance and within 30 seconds Leyton had doubled their lead thanks to Emond Protain. Hendon's consolation came in the 90th minute when Craig Vargas bundled the ball home from close range.

Saturday 26 August - The only way is up!

The Greens go into Monday afternoon's home game against Leyton knowing that the only way is up after Worthing's 1-1 draw at Leyton this afternoon dropped the Greens to the foot of the league table. Leyton have started well this season with two wins and a draw leaving them in third place. They opened with a 1-0 win at Slough Town, before beating Walton & Hersham 3-0 on Tuesday evening. Kick off at Claremont Road on Monday afternoon is at 3.00pm and we look forward to seeing you all there.

Friday 25 August - Hard work and effort not rewarded

Once again Hendon didn't get the rewards their hard work and effort deserved as they went down 4-1 at Horsham. Takumi Ake gave the Greens the lead in the 10th minute with a superb strike from 25 yards, but Jamie Taylor equalised just three minutes later before Lewis Taylor gave Horsham the lead on the half time whistle.

The Greens started very brightly in the second half, and indeed controlled the game for 20 minutes but were unable to find the finishes the build up play deserved leaving goalkeeper Gareth Williams untested. Jamie Taylor extended the lead in the 66th minute as he completed a fine counter attacking move and the final goal was also his hat-trick goal when he converted a penalty.

Admission at the AtSpeed Stadium is £8.00 for adults and £4.00 for concessions. We look forward to seeing those supporters who are able to make the game at the ground.

Tuesday 22 August - Game of penalties as Hendon lose

Hendon lost their second game of the season at Hampton & Richmond Borough this evening 3-1. Ian Hodges gave the Beavers the lead in the 4th minute after which Hendon only stayed in the game thanks to two fine saves by Richard Wilmot. Hampton were awarded a penalty in the 42nd minute that was taken by Hodges but saved by Wilmot, only for another penalty to be awarded for another offence. Hodges stepped up again, and Wilmot was once again the hero.

Two minutes into the second half Hodges doubled the lead, despite being suspiciously offside. The Greens then gradually came into the game and were rewarded for their efforts when Takumi Ake scored from the penalty spot after Wayne O'Sullivan was fouled. Both Danny Edwards and Ross Pickett were unfortunate not to add to the tally before Jon-Henry Hayden completed the win for Hampton in stoppage time.

Admission at The Beveree tomorrow will be £8.00 for adults and £4.00 for concessions.

Saturday 19 August - Live Updates: What went wrong?

As the supporters who were looking out for our live updates service, or signed up for texts will be aware, things went slightly awry this afternoon. The messageboard became inaccessable and text messages arrived late bearing news of a 12-0 defeat by Tonbridge.

The system was used successfully by Kingstonian all last season, and by ourselves on Tuesday night, but today saw the system being used by multiple clubs for the first time. Clearly something went awry this afternoon and having been in contact with livescores they are confident that they've tracked down the problem and solved it for Tuesday night. They also added that they apologise for any inconvenience to supporters (or distress caused by the thought that we were 12-0 down at half time!) and have promised to refund credits to all supporters who were sent the erroneous messages.

The service will continue for Tuesday night's tie at Hampton, and we are confident the result will be somewhat more successful after this afternoon's teething problems.

Saturday 19 August - Battling Greens lose to Angels

Hendon's season started disappointingly this afternoon with a 1-0 defeat to Tonbridge Angels. However, whilst the result was disappointing, the performance from the Greens was encouraging as they battled throughout the game creating more chances than their opponents. However, it could have been a different story as the Angels were well in control during the first 20 minutes, and were rewarded in the 11th minute when Andy Martin scored. However, as the game went on Hendon came more into the game and fired a number of shots at goal, the best of which was a shot on the turn late on by Jermaine Hunter which went narrowly wide of the post.

Saturday 19 August - Jermaine return a boost

The club was given a boost yesterday evening with the news that striker Jermaine Hunter had agreed to return to the club in time to play this afternoon against Tonbridge Angels. Jermaine played twice for the Greens back in January before moving on to Braintree Town. We welcome Jermaine back to the club and hope that he enjoys being back with us.

Friday 18 August - The new season is upon us

As everyone will be aware, the new season starts tomorrow afternoon when we entertain Tonbridge Angels at Claremont Road in a 3.00pm kick off. Tonbridge Angels were promoted via the play offs from Ryman League Division One last season which is an immediate return to the Premier Division for the Kent club following their relegation in 2004/05. Two seasons ago we travelled to Tonbridge early in the season losing 4-1 with both John Frendo and Mark Nicholls being sent off. Dave Hunt scored our goal. The return fixture was played late on in the campaign and resulted in a 0-0 draw at Claremont Road. Supporters are reminded that admission charges are unchanged once again and are £8.00 for adults and £3.00 for concessions. We look forward to seeing as many supporters at the game as possible to hopefully cheer the team on to a winning start.

Thursday 10 August - It's goalless at Chalfont

Hendon played out a goalless draw on a very bumpy pitch at Chalfont St Peter this evening, the pitch making it difficult for the Greens to play the football they had been playing in recent games. Both sides had chances to score but either good saves from the keepers or more shooting meant that the game remained goalless.
