Sunday 31 July - Possible new filming partner - your help needed

Now that Football Exclusives are not going to be fiming our matches, we've been looking at alternative approaches. We've been talking to one company, FC Video, who will do the following for each home and away game:

- Film full match, including any mascots etc

- Film any post match interviews with manager or sponsor presentations (ie man of the match)

- Provide the following, normally on a dedicated youtube channel:

- Match Highlights – normally around 8 mins long

- Highlights include full team line-ups, graphics, replays etc

- Post Match Interviews

- Vines (not on the channel)

They aim to get goal Vines & Interviews up on the day (unless it's an evening game) – with highlights up by the following day.

They will charge us £85 per match which works out at about £4,250 for the whole season.

Unfortunately, we're not in a position to be able to absorb that cost so the purpose of this post is to ask - on a no-commitment basis at this stage - if you would be interested in paying £10 per month for 9 months (September to May) or an £80 lump sum up-front to help defray these costs.

If we have enough people prepared to do this, we'll continue our discussions and will then ask people to set-up standing orders or pay the lump sums.

If you're interested, please drop a quick email to Simon Lawrence on as soon as possible.

Friday 29 July - Greens win at Hayes & Yeading

The first team's preparations for the new season continued this evening as they ran out 2-0 winners at Hayes & Yeading United in the first game in our hosts new stadium.

The honour of the first goal in the new ground fell to Dale Binns who fired the ball across the goal into the far corner in the 13th minute, and just before the half hour mark Spencer McCall curled a beautiful free kick into the net.

The second half saw the defence tested more, but other than a couple of goalline clearances, the clean sheet was kept comfortably.

Tonight's friendly saw Margate run out 2-1 winners at Silver Jubilee Park, with Karl Oliyide on target for the Greens. This was after Matt Johnson & Brett Johnson had scored either side of half time for the National League South side.

We apologise for their not being any updates during the game tonight via the Livescores system or twitter, but this was due to none of our regular operators being able to get to the game.

Monday 25 July - Are you a Supporters Trust member?

The recent AGM marked the 10th anniversary of the creation of the Supporters Trust. The Trust worked hard to keep the club going against all odds and these efforts have now been rewarded by our recent move to Silver Jubilee Park. Allied to a thriving youth set-up, the future of Hendon Football Club is brighter now than it has been at any other time in the past 10 years.

But while we are on an upwards trajectory in many respects, membership of the Trust has started to dwindle. In 2006/7, the Trust's first year, we had 278 members. Membership peaked in 2007/8 at 286 but numbers then started to drop and, at the time of writing, only 134 members have paid their subscriptions for the 2016/17 membership year.

Trust membership costs just £10 a year. While the income from Trust memberships, like all income, is very important to the club, of far greater importance is the fact that Trust membership gives supporters a real stake in our great club. We are, after all, a fans-owned club and the more people who join or rejoin the Trust the stronger we will become and the further we can go.

Whether you are someone who has never joined the Trust before or you are a lapsed Trust member, please consider joining or rejoining now and let's see if we can make 2016/17 a record Trust membership year. That would be a great testament to all of the hard work that the Trust Board, the Club Board, the Supporters Association and our band of volunteers have put in over the past 10 years.

If you'd like to join or rejoin the Trust, please speak to Simon Lawrence on any matchday or drop him a line at

Sunday 24 July - Farnborough win Hendon FC Invitation Cup

Farnborough ran out 2-1 winners against the Greens this afternoon in the final of the Hendon FC Invitation Cup sponsored by Triangle Pensions.

Nic Ciardini was the player who did the damage with two goals in a couple of minutes towards the end of the first half after Niko Muir had given the Greens the lead in the 5th minute.

The second half saw the home side have plenty of good build up play, but the final ball and finishing wasn't there, ensuring that Farnborough secured the cup.

Earlier, Carshalton Athletic beat Slough Town 3-2 in the 3rd/4th play off.

Thursday 21 July - Greens draw at Hitchin

The first team drew 2-2 at Hitchin Town this evening, in a game that saw three men sent off after just 5 minutes following a brawl.

Following the flashpoint, which occured after the Greens were awarded a freekick, Dave Diedhiou was sent off, along with Brett Donnelly and Callum Donnelly from Hitchin, all for violent conduct.

The Greens took the lead in the 24th minute when Spencer McCall slid the ball home following an excellent run from Dale Binns, before Daniel Webb equalised for the Canaries shortly before half time.

Robbie Burns put the home side ahead in the 47th minute, and the Greens had to wait until stoppage time for the equaliser, when Andre Da Costa convered a spot kick after he had been brought down in the box.

Wednesday 20 July - David Bedford unveils new stadium upgrade

David Bedford OBE officially opened the club’s £230,000 stadium improvements ahead of the game against QPR on Monday night

The project was made possible thanks to a £114,000 grant from the Premier League through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF), the largest funders of non-league football in the country. David, who competed at the 1972 Munich Olympics, unveiled the new facilities alongside Ann John OBE, former leader of Brent Council.

The funding has enabled the club, who play at Step 3 of the Isthmian Premier League, to improve their existing facilities, including: changing rooms; spectator toilet facilities; dugouts; turnstiles and standing and seated terraces.

A new spectator grandstand, consisting of 120 seats and three wheelchair spaces, has been installed to increase stadium capacity and improve spectator access. The work has also provided a new pitch perimeter barrier to replace previously inadequate post and rail fencing.

The existing clubhouse pavilion has been refurbished to provide two new changing rooms, two officials' changing rooms and a first aid room. Spectator access has been further improved through the provision of male, female and wheelchair toilet facilities that were previously only accessible via the clubhouse and bar area.

Funded with £5.2m each year from the Premier League, the FSIF is the country's largest provider of grants towards projects that help improve the comfort and safety of lower league football grounds in both the professional and amateur game. These improvements range from new football stands and turnstiles to floodlighting and improved provision for disabled supporters.

David Bedford OBE, said: "I was delighted to officially open Hendon FC's fantastic stadium improvements. The changes made to the facilities will have a hugely positive impact on club members and visiting teams. I have been a supporter of Hendon FC since I was a youngster, and recall watching the team returning from Wembley after winning the 1960 FA Amateur Cup.

"Across every sport, it is vital that facilities are safe, suitable for use, and accessible for those that use them. Without the correct facilities, young people would not be able to progress through to the elite levels of their sport. As somebody who was able to compete professionally, I know the importance of top-class facilities no matter the sport.

"I would like to thank the Premier League, through the FSIF, for their investment into the project."

Simon Lawrence, Chairman of Hendon Football Club said "Since being forced to leave Claremont Road in 2008, the club's very existence has come under greater and greater threat and, while the Supporters Trust and the football club board have managed to keep the club alive, we have felt powerless to do anything to turn the club's fortunes around. Our move to Silver Jubilee Park enables us, for the first time in 10 years, to look forward to and plan for a brighter future. The club owes a huge debt to the FSIF without whose incredible support this move would not have been possible."

Peter McCormick OBE, Chairman of the Football Stadia Improvement Fund, said: "Hendon FC's stadium improvements have enabled the club to meet the relevant ground grading requirements to move into their new home at Silver Jubilee Park on a permanent basis. Without the support from Premier League, through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund, this development would not have been possible. I look forward to seeing the club go from strength to strength."

Monday 18 July - 9 goal thriller at SJP

The first team played out a 9 goal thriller this evening at SJP, with a young Queens Park Rangers side running out 5-4 winners.

The visitors took the lead through former Hendon loanee Brandon Adams in the first minute, and doubled the lead in the 20th minute when Niko Hamalinen scored.

Within a minute Niko Muir reduced the arrears, and Spencer McCall levelled the scores with a fine curling effort shortly before half time.

QPR restored their two goal lead early in the second half with strikes from Reece Grego-Cox and Adams, with Omar Vassell reducing the deficit around the hour mark.

Dan Darbyshire scored again for the visitors with fifteen minutes to go before Andre Da Costa completed the scoring late on with one of his trademark free-kicks from the edge of the area.

Sunday 17 July - Pay what you want tomorrow evening

Tomorrow evening sees a young Queens Park Rangers XI, expected to largely be made up of their under 21 squad, visit SJP for our latest friendly. Entrance to the game is on a pay what you want basis - you can pay whatever you like - as long as you pay something. When the QPR youngsters visited Earlsmead last summer for Gary McCann's testimonial, a very entertaining seven-goal thriller was played out.

The game tomorrow is also being used as the official opening of SJP as our new home ground, with guests from the Football Foundation and other organisations expected to attend.

Then on Thursday evening, we make the trip to our old friends Hitchin Town. Supporters are reminded that kick off is at the earlier time of 7:00pm as the Canaries are currently having their floodlights upgraded.

Friday 15 July - Parking at Silver Jubilee Park

With a large number of pre-season friendlies taking place at Silver Jubilee Park for both Hendon and Edgware Town over the coming weeks, demand for parking in the car park at SJP is likely to be extremely high.

The club therefore would like to kindly ask supporters if they park in the car park at SJP that they do not block any other vehicles from exiting their space, and also would like to make all aware that there is no parking allowed on any grass areas. We will endeavour to have marshals to assist, and once the car park is full, the gate at the bottom of the drive will be closed.

Parking is available along local side-roads, and we ask that all cars are parked in a manner that is considerate to our neighbours and the local community.

Tuesday 12 July - Greens win opening friendly

The first team beat Hemel Hempstead Town 2-1 in their opening friendly of the summer this evening at Silver Jubilee Park.

The Greens took the lead in the 2nd minute when Aaron Morgan, back at the club on trial, scored from close range. The visitors equalised in the 20th minute, but the moment of the game came just before half time.

Keagan Cole picked up the ball around the halfway line, and carried it past a number of visiting players to break into the box and fire the ball into the net off the post - it was a superb run.

The second half saw both sides completely change their outfield line-ups, and chances were largely at a premium.
