Saturday 24 November - Hendon see off East Thurrock

Hendon saw off East Thurrock United this afternoon with a 4-2 win and another hard working performance. The Greens took the lead in the 29th minute courtesy of a Wayne O'Sullivan penalty, and three minutes later O'Sullivan doubled the lead. Steve West pulled a goal back shortly before half-time for the visitors from the penalty spot, and in the 53rd minute Steve Harrison equalised. However, this galvanised the Greens back into attack and within two minutes Rakatahr Hudson had restored the lead and twenty minutes later Brian Haule completed the scoring

Saturday 24 November - Collins joins on loan

Gary McCann has signed defender Sam Collins has joined non-league Hendon on a month's loan from MK Dons, joining his team mate Sam Page who recently agreed to stay with the Greens until mid-December. Collins, 18, signed a two-year professional contract with the club in the summer after graduating from the Dons Academy, and joins the Greens as he looks to get some first team experience under his belt. This will be Sam's second loan spell of the season, after completing a short-term loan with Conference North side Kettering Town.

The two Sams join the other recent arrival who is Scott Shulton, who is a youth team and reserve team player with Wycombe Wanderers. Scott has joined us on work experience and will be looking to gain some valuable first team experience.

Wednesday 21 November - Dean Green moves on

Speaking to Greensnet this morning, Gary McCann confirmed that 33 year old midfielder Dean Green will be leaving the club and joining league rivals AFC Hornchurch. The Essex side offered Dean, who now lives in Ilford, a package that he couldn't really refuse. Dean joined the club early last season from Staines Town, and immediately became a regular in the side. He made 55 appearances for the Greens, scoring 12 goals.

Gary said "I'm disappointed to lose the services of Dean as, along with the recent departure of Craig Vargas, it has weakened the squad. However, as always we are looking to bring players in who will improve the squad and we hope to have replacements on board soon. Of course, despite the disappointment it doesn't alter the focus of the group which is to continue building on our results and turn the excellent start into an excellent season."

The club would like to thank Dean for his efforts over the past year and wish him all the best for the future.

Saturday 17 November - Greens win against Hornets

Hendon put in a professional, solid performance this afternoon as they beat Horsham 2-0 at a cold and damp Claremont Road. After soaking up Horsham pressure, the Greens took the lead in the 33rd minute when Casey Maclaren headed home, and shortly before half-time Belal Aiteouakrim doubled the lead. Hendon were able to hold on comfortably in the second half to secure the three points and increase the gap to the chasing pack.

Monday 12 November - 2pm kick off on Saturday

Our home game against Horsham this coming Saturday, 17th November, will now kick off at the slightly earlier time of 2.00pm. This is because further remedial work is being undertaken on our floodlights this week. Whilst it is almost certain that the work will be complete before the weekend, both the club and the Ryman League felt that it would be far better to move the kick off back an hour than risk a postponement. Unless otherwise advised all other Saturday fixtures will continue to kick off at 3.00pm as normal.

Monday 12 November - Davis admitted to hospital

Following our game at Wealdstone on Saturday, Davis Haule was admitted to hospital with internal bleeding behind his shin that had caused his leg to swell to double its size. Despite thoughts that he may need surgery, this wasn't the case, but he spent two nights in hospital. He will be assessed later this week but at the current time it is unknown as to how long Davis will be out of action. Everyone at the club wishes Davis all the best for a speedy recovery and we hope to see him back in action sooner rather than later.

Saturday 10 November - Stones win local derby

Wealdstone ran out 3-2 winners in an entertaining and competitive local derby this afternoon. The Stones drew first blood when Ben Alexander headed home unmarked early in the game, before Peter Dean doubled the lead midway through the half. Hendon hit back straight after the break courtesy of Rakatahr Hudson and were on level terms just before the hour mark when Belal Aiteouakrim finished off a fine move. However, former Hendon skipper Lee O'Leary had the final say when he scored Wealdstone's winner with just three minutes left on the clock.

Saturday 03 November - AFC Wimbledon league game postponed

Our league game at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday 24th November has been postponed. This is because the Wombles have progressed into the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy this afternoon following their 4-0 victory over Chelmsford City at Kingsmeadow. As a consequence the Greens now have just two games during November, away at Wealdstone next Saturday, and home to Horsham the following week.

Gary McCann confirmed yesterday that defender Craig Vargas has left the club and joined former Hendon manager Dave Anderson at St Albans City. Craig made 49 appearances for the Greens, scoring 3 goals, in two spells over the past 18 months. Craig always gave 100% to the club during his time with us and he goes with the club's utmost respect and blessing. We wish Craig all the best as he looks to progress his career.
