An 82nd minute strike from Mariusz Serwin was enough to earn Hendon all three points against Carshalton Athletic this afternoon.
In a game in which the Greens found the Carshalton defence in superb form and very tough to break down, chances were at a premium.
Carshalton were reduced to ten men just before half time when Luke Pigden was sent off for a nasty looking challenge on Lee O'Leary, and the Greens were comfortable throughout the second half.
The goal came from a short corner, from which Lubo Guentchev eventually crossed the ball for Serwin to volley the ball across the keeper and into the net. Just moments earlier the Carshalton keeper, Craig Ross, made an outstanding save from a fierce Jamie Busby drive.
The win means that the Greens remain in 6th place, and just three points behind the leaders.
