Hendon won their first local derby of the season as they beat Harrow Borough 3-2 in an eventful game this afternoon. The performance from Hendon was excellent, and this is a game that they would probably have lost a year ago.
The Greens took the lead in the 4th minute when Aaron Morgan fired home a cross from Lubomir Guentchev. Before Harrow equalised on the stroke of half-time, Troy Hewitt finding the back of the net, Hendon had a number of chances to extend their lead.
Harrow took the lead in the 72nd minute when Dean Marney headed home, but seven minutes later the Greens were back on level terms. James Parker was brought down in the box by the Harrow keeper, and Guentchev stepped up and converted the spot kick.
Ten minutes later, Hendon were awarded another spot kick after Mariusz Serwin was fouled, and for the second time Guentchev sent the keeper the wrong way. The Greens were then able to hold on for the three points despite five minutes of stoppage time.
