The Supporters Association and Trust AGMs were held last week with a disappointingly low turnout of around 25 members attending. The Supporters Association first outlined their efforts over the previous season. Although hit with a bigger bill than expected for the new club shop at Vale Farm, they had been able to support the football club in several areas, not least covering the loss made on coach travel. With the shop due to be refitted in the near future, the Association hope to be able to restock on merchandise and make full use of the new building for the new season. As always, the board are looking for new blood and would welcome anyone who wishes to join them.
The Trust then followed and outlined what progress had been made off the field over the previous 12 months. Last season saw the club make a significant loss, hence as announced in May, Gary McCann is working to a reduced budget and later over the summer, the attempted price cut for admission was reversed. The Trust's board have more recently begun to focus their efforts on engaging with both local businesses and the local community to raise awareness of the football club and build links that they believe are starting to bear fruit.
However, it was also outlined that the Trust board doesn't have the manpower to proactively engage with every potential sponsor and the whole surrounding area without help as it's simply too large. It was suggested that some supporters already have good links with businesses that might be willing to sponsor or advertise with the club or know local people who might be encouraged into watching Hendon and that the board do need as much help as possible in ensuring that the club's financial base is broadened as far as possible.
Supporters were asked to again look and see if they were likely to be able to encourage friends, colleagues or family into the monthly Snowball Draw, which is now giving away nearly £400 a month and if they could offer assistance to the Trust's board, financial or in terms of manpower. The Supporters Trust outlined their board changes for the previous 12 months, detailed on Greensnet earlier today, and gave thanks to all those who had served on it during that period. Thanks was finally given to everyone else who has given up their time over the past 12 months for the club, both on matchdays or for other events and particularly those from Wembley FC who have continued to make us welcome at Vale Farm.
