Hendon suffered defeat at Hayes & Yeading United on Saturday in a hard-fought derby that was settled by the odd goal in three.
The Greens squandered a wonderful opportunity to open the scoring in the opening minute when Florian Ada pounced on an errant clearance but failed to put enough power on his shot allowing the goalkeeper to smother.
Hayes went ahead in first half stoppage time, Sam Ashton netting from close range. The same player made it 2-0 when the hosts were awarded a penalty kick, he drilled it low to Josh Strizovic's right.
Solomon Tabase ensured a nervy finish with a deflected effort for his first Hendon goal, but try as they might, the Greens were unable to find an equaliser.
