A 79th minute goal from Niko Muir was enough to get Hendon back to winning ways against a stubborn Horndean side yesterday afternoon at Silver Jubilee Park.
A game of few chances was settled when Muir pounced on a defensive error to fire beyond Myles Bowman shortly after the goalkeeper had repelled Victor Ferrini's powerful strike.
The Greens probably shaded the tight contest on chances, with Keagan Cole denied by a fine Bowman save and curling narrowly wide, while Dave Diedhiou shot against the post before Nikolai Krokhin skied the rebound over the crossbar.
In the end, Muir's strike was enough to seal a vital three points and move Hendon up to 15th in the table ahead of Tuesday's visit to Portchester.
