Hendon progressed to the 1st round of the FA Trophy with a superb backs-to-the-wall defensive performance to knock Isthmian League Premier Division side Dulwich Hamlet out of the competition at Champion Hill yesterday afternoon.
A 3rd minute goal following an indirect free kick from Keagan Cole saw the only goal of the game scored. Although Dulwich dominated possession, they created little in the way of clear cut chances in the first half.
After the break, with a strong wind in their favour, Dulwich peppered the home penalty area only to be denied by some superb and well-organised defending. When the Green wall was breached, Josh Strizovic was on hand to deny the home side.
The goalkeeper made himself the hero with two second half penalty saves. The first from Luke Wanadio was followed by a second from Sonny Baugh in stoppage time at the end of the match to seal Hendon's progression into the competition proper.
