Hendon picked up their first league win since New Year's Day at a soggy Webbswood Stadium yesterday, as Shaun Lucien's superb 82rd minute winner was enough for the points against Swindon Supermarine.
Although the game ebbed and flowed, with both sides doing well in heavy and bobbly conditions, it was Swindon who had the better chances throughout the 90 minutes. Hendon were indebted to at least three magnificent saves from Dylan Berry to preserve their clean sheet, while Harry Williams poked the ball over from a matter of yards after a header across the Hendon goal.
One reflex save early on was bettered in the 90th minute by a stunning stop to deny Sam Turl from point blank range, and moments later turning aside a piledriver from George Dowling that seemed destined for the top corner.
The Greens' first league clean sheet since the end of November laid the basis for substitute Shaun Lucien to step inside off the left wing and strike a low effort that fizzed off the surface and beat the Swindon goalkeeper all ends up.
The three points sees the Greens move back into the top half of the table ahead of Tuesday's clash with Poole Town.
