Hendon were made to pay for switching off for 7 second half minutes this afternoon at Silver Jubilee Park as Margate capitalised on poor defending to seal their passage into the 2nd qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Hamza Semakula gave the Greens a deserved half-time lead, finishing off a slick counter-attack, and Hendon squandered other opportunities to extend their advantage.

After Joe White limped off with a hamstring problem, Margate were buoyed with a scrappy goal that was turned in by Sam Blackman before Fyn Rutherford and Steve Cawley struck to make it 3-1.

Niko Muir pulled one back to create a grandstand finish, but the visitors saw the game out to seal their progress into the next round and leave Lee Allinson's men to think about what might have been.
