We were extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Supporters Association stalwart Mike Hogan on Saturday.
Mike attended his first match aged 8 or 9 in the early 1950s, meaning that he was a die-hard Hendon fan for more than 70 years and quickly became a member of the Supporters Association Committee, a body that he went on to lead with distinguishment for several years, before becoming President in 2014.
Mike played a key role in helping to steer the club through difficult times throughout the 1990s and 2000s, when Hendon's very future was in jeopardy. Fans from the Claremont Road era will fondly remember the famous Hogey Burgers from Mike's era running the tea bar at our old ground.
Mike moved to Colchester but continued to follow the club from afar, his visits to Silver Jubilee Park less regular than before, but his passion remained undimmed. After suffering a stroke last year, Mike was unable to attend any further matches before his death.
We'd like to pass on our condolences to Mike's brother, Colin, and the rest of his friends and family at this extremely difficult and sad time. He will be fondly remembered by the Hendon FC family.
