Hendon kick off the 2022–23 season with a home fixture against Yate Town on Saturday afternoon. Kick-off at Silver Jubilee Park is at 3.00 pm.
Yate completed their last season in seventh place in the Southern League South Premier Division, nine places and 25 points ahead of the Greens.
The Bluebells picked up four points from their two matches against Hendon last season, a goalless home draw and 2–1 victory at SJP, James Harding and Andy Lewis scoring either side of Joe White’s equaliser.
Both of the scheduled matches in 2020–21 fell foul of the pandemic and weren’t played, but a season earlier, the Greens were denied a victory in a 2–2 draw at Lodge Road (Luca Valentine and Connor Calcutt twice giving Hendon the lead, only for Nicholas Peare and Luke Spokes to equalise, the latter in the last minute). The return at Silver Jubilee Park went the way of Hendon, 2–1, White getting both goals, the second a 71st-minute winner.
Yate have made a number of changes to their squad for this season, the most recent additions being 35-year-old striker Matt Green, a veteran with more than 300 EFL appearances, and a pair of youngsters, Prince Henry and Omar Taylor-Clarke, on a half-season loan from Bristol City.
The Bluebells suffered their first reverse of their preseason campaign last Saturday when Bath City won 2–0 at Lodge Road. They are due to complete their preseason schedule against a Bristol City XI on Tuesday night.
Discounted advance tickets will be available until midday on Saturday priced at £11 for Adults (£12 on the turnstiles), £7 for Concessions (£8 on the turnstiles) and £1 for Under-18s.
