Hendon welcome Yate Town to Silver Jubilee Park in the Southern League Premier Division South this coming Saturday, 19 March. Kick-Off is at 3.00pm.
As part of the launch of Project 500, an initiative ultimately aimed at getting 500 people watching Hendon on a regular basis, this weekend's fixture has been designated as FREE ADMISSION.
Yate will travel the 112 miles to our ground in modest form with two wins and three losses in their last five league games. Last time out in the league, we drew one each at Gosport Borough in a game from which we should possibly have taken more. Whilst we had a blank Saturday last weekend, Yate were defeated at home, two goals to none by high-flying Farnborough.
Fans might expect a competitive encounter as The Bluebells sit in 7th place in the Southern League Southern Premier Division having accumulated 56 points from their 32 games to date. 29 of those points have come on the road. They may still have thoughts of the play-offs as they have games in hand over the teams above them, although they have points to make-up.
When the teams last met, on Tuesday 8 February, the outcome was a nil nil draw at the South West Interiors Stadium, in front of 164 spectators.
Earlier this term Yate had a memorable run in the FA Cup, reaching the first-round proper beating National League Dover Athletic on the way, before bowing out to a strong Yeovil Town. One to watch out for in the Yate squad, if selected, is striker Olly Mehew. He names Forest Green Rovers, Blackburn Rovers, and Bristol Rovers amongst his previous clubs.
Greens gaffer Lee Allinson will have to deliberate on his team selection and formation and will be hoping to be able to name a stronger bench than of late. Leading striker Joe White will look to continue where he left off in the London Senior Cup in midweek when he put in an excellent performance to help Hendon to the final. Joe will remember his two goals against The Bluebells on their last visit here in February 2020 when we ran out winners by two goals to one towards the end of the first curtailed season.
With the weather set fair, and with FREE ADMISSION for all comers, perhaps look to bring-a-buddy, or pair-with-a-pal and enjoy the family friendly atmosphere at Silver Jubilee Park. The bar will be open from midday with refreshments and food available from two outlets.
