Hendon went down 2-1 to one of the promotion play-off favourites but went perilously close to snatching a point that their many thought their efforts deserved.
After a goalless first-half that saw Christian Smith rattle the bar with a free-kick the hosts went head seven minutes after the break when Kadell Daniel headed down Cole Brown's cross beyond Fred Burbidge.
Joe White equalised after an excellent ball from Liam Brooks on 69 minutes but parity lasted just three minutes as Francis Amartey was adjudged to have bundled the ball home from a corner to give the home side the advantage once again.
Hamza Semakula was then sent off a couple of minutes later for a second booking but the 10-men of Hendon managed to fashion a couple of half chances and one good one at the death from which Joe White brought a good save from Ravan Constable.
