The Supporters Trust secretary, John Rogers, is undertaking a fundraising walk in March 2022 to raise £2,500 to go towards the many community projects run by Silver Jubilee Park that benefit the local community and Hendon Football Club, which has played such a big role in his own fight against mental illness.
He is planning to depart following the conclusion of our home match with Yate Town on 19th March and spend the next week walking the 147 miles to arrive at the Optima Stadium, Weston-super-Mare, in time for kick-off (and hopefully a pre-match beer!) a week later on 26th March.
Whilst he undertakes his training over the next five months he will be providing regular updates in the form of blog posts on his Just Giving page, vlogs on HFCTV and on Social Media. Throughout these updates he will be looking at some of the fantastic programmes that are facilitated by Rob and the team at Silver Jubilee Park and talking about his own personal experience of mental illness and how football has helped him.
As part of the launch, John spoke to HFCTV’s Steve Lytton about the motivation behind his walk and the video can be seen by clicking below.
To support John on his journey towards fitness – and ultimately Weston-super-Mare – he has set up a Just Giving page which can be found here. Any donations would be warmly appreciated as would any words of gentle encouragement.
