We are saddened to have been informed of the passing of John Ashworth who played for the club in the late 1960s at the age of 83.
John skippered Wealdstone to FA Amateur Cup glory against the Greens in 1966 before making the move to Claremont Road that summer after which he was a fixture in the side for the next two campaigns. He was a key part of the side that won the Middlesex Senior Cup in 1966/7 and went on to make 91 appearances for the club, scoring 6 goals.
He then moved on to Hitchin Town towards the start of the 1968/9 season.
Our thoughts are with John's family at this sad time.
