Hendon picked up a deserved point from their Pitching In Southern League opener this afternoon at Salisbury with substitute Liam Brooks clinching the point with a second half equaliser.
The hosts took just45 seconds to open the scoring as Marvin Brooks finished superbly into the top corner after a loose Hendon pass in midfield, but midway through the first half the Greens fought back and levelled thanks to Sam Corcoran.
The midfielder picked up the ball a yard or two inside the Salisbury half, saw Liam Armstrong well off his line and measured his chipped finish from 50-plus yards to perfection to bring the sides level.
Salisbury then had the better of the opening quarter of an hour of the second period and went ahead when a corner went in off Lucas Perry into his own net. The addition of substitutes Joe White and Liam Brooks paid dividends when White forced a mistake from the home defence and he laid in Brooks to finish and seal a well earned point.
Both sides had openings to win it but had to make do with sharing the spoils. Focus now switches to the FA Cup on Tuesday evening when we make the journey to West Sussex to meet Crawley Down Gatwick.
