Congratulations to Kim Parker who last night won the auction to nominate a 19th Legend to join the 18 already named with a late bid of 251 pounds.
Kim has nominated his grandfather, J.H. "Chummy" Parker who played for the club during its infancy and Hampstead Town days.
J. H. "Chummy" Parker played for Hampstead Town both before and after World War 1. He began his career with West Hampstead in 1907 and spent a season at Finchley. He made his debut for Hampstead Town in the first ever game at The Avenue Ground in Sept 1912 with his last appearance at end of the 1920/21 season.
A popular, hard-working and hard tackling right-half, he was selected to represent the Middlesex F.A.and received plaudits for his performance in the County's 6-1 win over the Belgian Full International side in Brussels on Christmas Day 1910. Chummy was a builder by trade and with wartime experience in The Royal Engineers, he helped with much of the improvement work undertaken on The Avenue Ground during its short existence.
He was made an Honorary Life Member of the Club in 1922.
Our thanks to Kim and to everyone else that took place in the auction for their generosity and we look forward to Chummy joining his team-mates next Saturday.
