With our last match of the 2019/20 season already a dim and distant memory and the final league game of the campaign due to have taken place yesterday, it's been a tough period without football for the management, players and of course, supporters of the club.
With the club having missed out on a sizeable amount of matchday income from the five matches that did not go ahead at Silver Jubilee Park, on Saturday 23rd May at 3pm we will be hosting a virtual fundraiser with a game between Lee Allinson's Hendon against a team of Hendon Legends voted for by supporters simulated online on the PC game Football Manager 20 with all proceeds going towards the 12th Man Fund.
Virtual admission for the game will be 10 pounds and all attendees will recieve a link via email through which they'll be able to log in and watch their current heroes play legends of previous years gone by online.
Lee Allinson is on board to select his team, whilst a panel of half a dozen long-term supporters has come up with a shortlist of legends players that supporters will be able to vote upon and select a 17-man squad for the game. The poll will be launched this coming week and the final squad will be announced next weekend at which point tickets will go on sale.
Nigel Kyte will be producing a full matchday programme, for sale at 2.50, and which will be emailed to all purchasers; we will also be holding a 50/50 draw and Golden Goal competition with tickets available at 1 pound each, half of the proceeds will go to the winning ticketholder of each competition
Supporters will also have the opportunity to sponsor their favourite legends player for 10 pounds each, we will be launched following the announcement of the squad next week. In addition, we will also have our usual Match, Matchball and Programme sponsorship packages available with each sponsor able to claim their real-life package at any 2020/1 Southern League home match.
We understand that the past few weeks has brought with it many challenges for everyone and hope that this event will bring a little entertainment and cheer to supporters as well as serve as a taster for the new season to come when we are given the government green light to resume footballing activities. If you’re able to support in any way and help us top up Lee Allinson’s playing budget for the coming season, every little helps.
