Lee Chappell has been in touch with Lee Allinson to announce his retirement from football with immediate effect.

Chaps came to prominence at Wealdstone where he made more than 300 appearances including one in that famous 5-4 win at Northwood in August 2005 and also in the final game at Claremont Road which the Stones went on to win 4-1.

He then moved onto St Albans City, making more than 200 appearances for the Saints before teaming up with Steve Castle at Royston Town and then with Jimmy Gray at Hendon in the summer of 2018.

Chaps was Jimmy's skipper and played a large part in our survival last term with his displays at left-back and leadership, particularly guiding younger players through games. He agreed to postpone his retirement for a further year in the summer before breaking his hand in the first half of his final appearance for the club in the 2-0 home win against Walton Casuals in October, but completing the full 90 minutes.

Lee made 57 appearances for the Greens, we thank him for his service not only to Hendon Football Club, but the Non-League game as a whole and wish him all the very best for whatever life brings next.
