To close our series on new opponents next season sees us take a look at Yate Town who were promoted from the Southern League Division 1 South via the play-offs last season.
Formed as Yate Rovers in 1906 they won the Gloucestershire Junior Cup in 1913/4 but then disbanded in the early 1930s before reforming as Yate YMCA in 1933 as members of the Bristol and District League.
After beginning in Division 5 they progressed through the divisions until gaining admittance into the Bristol Premier Combination in the 1960s and then, in 1968, becoming founder members of the Gloucestershire County League, adopting their current name a year later.
In 1983 they moved into the Hellenic League Division 1, winning promotion in 1984/5 and then the Premier Division twice, firstly in 1987/8 and again the following season, gaining a place in the Southern League in the process.
After finishing bottom of the Southern League Division 1 West in 1999/2000 they were relegated back to the Hellenic League where they remained for three seasons before gaining promotion back into the Southern League in 2003.
The club gained promotion to the Southern League Premier Division in 2005 and enjoyed a four-season stay before suffering relegation back to Step 4 in 2009.
In 2012/3 the club reached the first round of the FA Cup for the first time, losing 3-0 to Cheltenham Town, and last season a 3rd placed finish saw them reach the play-offs and eventually gain promotion overcoming Cinderford Town 3-1 in the final.
