The Greens recorded their first win in 2 and a half months this afternoon ending their long trip to Wales with a 2-0 success against play-off chasing Merthyr Town.
Indebted to in-form Danny Boness for a number of excellent first half saves, Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick opened the scoring from the penalty spot five minutes before the break. Substitute Connor Calcutt netted his sixth goal of the season with a downward header with 20 minutes remaining and despite losing Luke TIngey to a second yellow card with a dozen minutes of the 90 remaining, the visitors withstood strong home pressure to record a vital and much needed victory ending a run of 13-matches without a win in all competitions.
