Following a run of four games without a win, the first team returned to winning ways yesterday with a 3-0 win over Merthyr Town, overtaking the Welsh team in the league table in the process.
It was a vastly improved performance on the defeats at Gosport Borough and Kings Langley, with debutant Matty Harriott have a very good first game, together with Riccardo Alexander-Greenaway. who was making his first league start.
The opening goal came in the 15th minute when Cole Brown capitalised on an error by the Merthyr keeper and he fired the ball into the net. Just seven minutes later he doubled the lead and the teams turned round at the break with the Greens two goals ahead.
The points were secured midway through the second half, when Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick scored his 12th goal of the season, and Merthyr were dealt a further blow with a few minutes to go when their skipper Ashley Evans was dismissed for a second yellow card.
