A young side, made up of fringe first teamers and under 23 players, were beaten 3-2 at Harrow Borough, who fielded a strong side, in the London Senior Cup this evening.
The only Greens player aged over 22 was skipper for the night Matty Newman, whilst Ben Gray, Edwin Mensah, Cheyce Grant and Jordan Payne all made their debuts, whilst Mickey White made his first appearance since the 2016-17 season having returned to the club this summer as part of the under 23 side.
It was a tough start for Hendon as they went 3-0 down in the first eleven minutes, Ant O'Connor opening the scoring before Dylan Kearney, who left the Greens a couple of weeks ago, marked his first start for Harrow with two quickfire goals.
However, the Greens didn't let their heads drop, and pulled a goal back in the 21st minute through Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick - his first for the club.
The second half saw the Greens have the better of the game, and the better of the chances, and their effort and workrate was rewarded with 10 minutes to go when White scored his first senior goal, but the youngsters were unable to fashion an equaliser.
Despite the defeat, the young Greens came away from the game with a lot of credit, with the only disappointing note - other than the defeat - being the injury suffered by Gray late in the first half.
