The Under 23s put in a superb performance this evening as they beat Brentford Under 19s 7-1 at SJP, with a side made up of players mostly aged just 18. It was a thoroughly dominant performance with the young Greens in control throughout.
The scoring was opened early in the first half when Mickey White found the back of the net, then shortly afterwards Michael Panford made it 2-0 before White scored his second of the night midway through the half.
The second half saw a string of goals of high quality. Just after the hour mark Matt Forkin netted, in his last game before heading off to Bournemouth University, and not long after Jaiden Bablola made it 5-0 with a cracking strike. Forkin was on target again with a superb effort to make it 6-0 before Will Murphy netted with a stunning strike of his own.
With five minutes to go Brentford got on the scoresheet, and it was another top quality goal as they scored direct from a free kick 30 yards from goal, the ball simply screaming into the top corner of the goal, giving Daniel Purdue absolutely no chance.
Over 70 people were in attendance, including first team manager Jimmy Gray, and they were royally entertained by the Greens for the full 90 minutes.
