For the second year in a row there was six goals in the August Bank Holiday derby against Harrow Borough at SJP. However, whilst the Greens scored all six last season, they were beaten 4-2 by our local rivals this afternoon.
It must be said that whilst the result was disappointing, the effort and workrate from the squad could not be faulted - it was just an afternoon where things didn't quite work out.
Harrow took the lead in the 19th minute when Anthony O'Connor saw his shot take a deflection on its way into the net, and shortly before the break Frank Keita doubled the lead, his shot squirming under Danny Boness. The Greens had their chances in the opening half but were unable to capitalise on them.
Lewis Cole made it 3-0 with another shot that took a deflection - it must be said that whilst there were deflections involved, more could have been done to prevent the shots in the first place, but Hendon refused to give up.
However, they were unable to take their chances until the 77th minute when Tyriq Hunte was fouled by Halfred Al-Droubi as he came to claim the ball, and Ricardo German stepped up to convert the spot kick.
Harrow thought they had made sure of the points a minute into stoppage time when Harry Rush scored, only to see German score his second of the afternoon and seventh of the season almost immediately from the restart. Two minutes later the final whistle blew and all three points were on their way to Earlsmead.
Next up we're back into pastures new as we travel to Swindon Supermarine - kick off is at 3:00pm.
