The final team in our series of meet the opponents is Wimborne Town, another team we have never met before.

They were formed in 1878, and were founder members of the Dorset FA in 1887. Their first honour was winning the Dorset Minor Cup in 1913, and their first senior honour was the Dorset Senior Amateur Cup in 1937. They were founder members of the Dorset Combination (now Dorset Premier League) in 1957.

In 1981 they won the Dorset League Division One without losing a match, and were admitted to the Western League that summer after the installation of floodlights. In their first season in the FA Cup in 1982-83, they reached the first round, losing 4-0 to Aldershot, and they finished third in the Western League in 1985.

They joined the Wessex League in 1987, where they remained until 2010 never finishing outside the top eight. They won the title in 1992, 1994 and 2000, and were runners up in 1993, 1997 and 2010. They were promoted to the Southern League in 2010, and played in Division One South & West until gaining a late promotion this summer in a reshuffle following the demise of Shaw Lane.

They won the FA Vase in 1992, beating Guiseley 5-3 in the final, completing a seasonal treble as they also won the Dorset Senior Cup in the same season.
