We are delighted to announce that we have appointed James Gray as our new manager. There was plenty of interest in the vacancy with over 25 applications received by the club.
James has previous managerial experience, having previously been in charge of St Albans City and Barton Rovers as well as a short spell as coach under Gordon Bartlett at Wealdstone.
Born in Yorkshire, Jimmy began his career at Sheffield Wednesday (he also had a trial at Sheffield United) and went on to have spells with Rotherham United, Sheffield, Denaby United, Worksop and Lincoln United.
Upon moving south, he appeared for a number of clubs including Harpenden Town, Barton Rovers, Chesham United, Leighton Town, Wealdstone, Arlesey Town and Dunstable Town.
Upon agreeing to be manager James said: "I'm really happy to be given this opportunity at Hendon FC. I had a really positive meeting with the club this week and am looking forward to meeting the players and getting started on our preparations.
"I think it's only natural that after the disappointment of narrowly missing out on promotion last season that there will be a bit of movement player wise during the summer.
"I am however excited by the challenge of putting our own stamp on the squad over the next few weeks. The Southern league will throw up different challenges for us but I have experience of this league and am hopeful we can put together a squad capable of challenging."
Simon Lawrence, club chairman said: "I'm very happy with our new appointment. James has a proven record in the Southern League, and going into a new era we feel this is a great fit. I know the fans will get behind him and the team next season."
We are sure that everyone will make James welcome at the club, and as and when he appoints his backroom staff, we will of course let you know.
