Two goalscoring milestones were reached this afternoon as the first team ran out 4-1 winners over Thurrock at a chilly SJP this afternoon.
The first milestone came in the 18th minute when Casey Maclaren scored his 50th goal for the club, his effort being deflected past Jake Jessup in goal, and just four minutes later the second milestone came as Dave Diedhiou scored his 40th goal for the club, his effort also being deflected past the keeper. In the 25th minute the Greens were 3-0 up as Niko Muir found the back of the net.
The rest of the game saw the Greens in control of proceedings and chances for the visitors were kept to a minimum. However, they did have a lifeline just before half time when they were awarded a penalty which was converted by Ronnie Winn.
The only goal of the second half came on the hour mark when Josh Walker was fouled in the box, and Muir stepped up to score his 23rd goal of the season.
The three points mean that the Greens have moved back into the play off zone, now lying in 5th place.
