Gary McCann has spoken exclusively to Greensnet this morning to announce that he released Wayne O'Sullivan from the squad last night.
Gary said "The decision to release Wayne is purely a football one. Unfortunately he has struggled to recapture the form he showed for us a couple of years ago. Also, there is going to be a change to the shape of the side which has had an influence on the decision.
"I can't put my finger on why it's not worked out and Wayne will be the first to admit that he's not reached the levels that he is capable of.
"I've got a lot of time for Wayne, but it's become clear as the season progressed that the performances weren't likely to come. We appreciate everything that he has done for the club during his two spells and wish him all the best for the future."
Wayne originally joined the club in August 2006, before moving on to Stevenage Borough in January 2008. He then joined Braintree Town for the 2008/09 season before returning to the Greens last summer. During his two spells with us Wayne made 103 appearances, scoring 24 goals.
