It was ultimately an extremely disappointing afternoon for the first team this afternoon as they lost 3-2 at fellow strugglers Leatherhead despite being 2-0 up at half-time. However, despite being ahead at the break, the scoreline flattered the Greens who were second best throughout the game, even when ahead and looked very tired in the second half.
The opening goal was a bizarre own goal from Paul Semakula in the 10th minute when he passed the ball into an empty net with his keeper standing ten yards to the left of the goal. The second came shortly before the break when Matt Ball scored with a good finish from a Khale Da Costa cross.
The second half belonged to Leatherhead in every way as the Greens imploded. D'Sean Theobalds scored their first in the 51st minute with a good run and shot, before Daniel Carr eqaulised fifteen minutes later when he was the only player alert enough to go for a rebound off the crossbar. Carr was the scorer of the winner when he slammed home the rebound after his penalty was partially saved by Tom Lovelock.
The result leaves the club deep in relegation trouble, with games now beginning to run out to try and avoid the drop.
