Gary McCann was delighted to pick up three vital Ryman League Premier Division points against basement-dwelling Grays Athletic. He said, "This was a really good win and a very important one.
"But the big challenge, and I stressed this in the dressing room after the game on Saturday, is that we have to back up this win with another one against Bognor Regis Town on Tuesday. It won't be easy, I know, but we have pick up some momentum.
"The scoreline on Saturday was tighter than the game suggests. I thought we played very well and could have won by more goals.
"What you saw at Grays was a Hendon team determined to win. We showed fantastic commitment and every player did their bit for the team.
"Things were certainly not easy for us with so many players - especially in defence - missing and three players had fitness tests before the game. It meant we had to shuffle things around with Sam Murphy going in at left back, and I thought did an admirable job.
"Up front I thought we offered a real threat. Kezie Ibe was more like the Kezie of two seasons ago and he linked up so well with Marcel Barrington and Reis Stanislaus. And our trio in midfield were excellent."
