A superb goal from Tanasheh Abrahams, from just inside his own half, earnt Wingate & Finchley a 1-0 win at Silver Jubilee Park this afternoon. The goal came in the 42nd minute when Abrahams spotted that Berkley Laurencin off his line, and fired home a lob that the keeper could only help into the net.
Aside from that, the game was a largely even affair, with both sides struggling to create clear cut chances. Shane Gore in the Wingate goal was never really tested by the Greens front line in the first half, whilst Laurencin had to make one save low down.
Whilst Hendon had their fair share of possession, the quality of the passing, and quality of balls into the box was nowhere near as good as Tuesday evening, and the best chance to equalise came late in the second half, but Kezie Ibe could only find the keeper before the visitors scrambled the ball away.
With other results going against the Greens, the threat of relegation looms even larger, and a win at Grays Athletic next weekend is absolutely vital.
